What do you think of how they have displayed their collection?

Re: For Those Who Collect...

Love this.  Very early American (not colonial).  Is that back in style?  That is how my mother decoracted our house back in the 60s; it was all the rage.  Like to think it is back.

@lolakimono I honestly don't like the room. Too many dark pieces, dark drapes and just the whole look.

It's nicely displayed, but I think in a dining area would be nice.

I don’t consider myself a big collector but I prefer more interesting arrangements.

I like it very much.  I like decorating with browns, and that room looks very comfortable and "homey" to me.  The display of dishes is pretty.

So if you did have that collection, how would you display it to make it more interesting?

Re: For Those Who Collect...

Lovely to look at.

My mother collected plates.  She had large breakfront china cabinet that took up almost the entire wall.

Her plates weren't just one "theme."  All different and colorful.  Parents traveled a lot and they were from all different places around the world.

Lovely to have and to look at - but a pain in the neck to clean!  We (the kids) used to argue about who "didn't" want to inherit the plates.  I don't know who eventually got them.

As an example, I find the side table much more interesting and appealing where the dishes are complimented by other pieces/items. I’m more a fan of balance than symmetry.
