Re: Flannel Sheets . . . .Are disappearing!

In the winter I use flannel sheets with a down blanket. The Northern Nights flannel was made in Portugal where the best flannel is made. In the summer I use cotton sheets. I have microfiber throws that the cats sleep on. They wash and dry very well.

Re: Flannel Sheets . . . .Are disappearing!

Well I'm a big time flannel sheet lover but my mom bought me some fleece sheets from qvc so I'm guessing you guys know which ones I'm talking about. Well I love them both. Flannel has a special place in my heart. After using them for years. But the fleece is so soft but sometimes too hot! I'm sure my age, 46, has a lot to do with it. But I will wake up drentched I'm so hot! And we heat by oil so our heat is set at 60. So its not like we keep our house hot! But they are the softest sheets I have ever slept on. And they came in handy when this winter it got down to -30 where we live. That's with the wind chill. So I guess I love them both. But if we ever have a warmer winter it's flannels all the way!

If you are a cat/dog lover, Plow & Hearth has some very beefy Portuguese flannel sets.

Re: Flannel Sheets . . . .Are disappearing!

I use flannel sheets until cold weather hits then I use fleece. I have to sleep between the fuzzy layers or every piece of dry skin on my feet gets caught in the shiny side of the sheets. But I have no bad issues when I sleep between the fuzzy sides. As cold as it's been this Spring, I'm not sure I'll ever take the fleece sheets off this year!

As for the fleece sheets being too warm...not in our bedroom. In the winter the temp is often around the mid-50s, or lower, in our bedroom.

I have a set of those Malden Mills sheets that were a gift. They're nice, but I still prefer the flannel. QVC used to sell some nice flannel sheets that were so pretty with lovely patterns. I guess the nice ones from Portugal are being replaced by all things from China.

Each to their own, but I've never liked flannel sheets, so if the disappear, I won't personally miss them at all...

Fleece is a thousand times better than flannel, IMO. Rapturous sleep!

I got a set of malden mills fleece sheets from QVC. We loved them so much, my husband said to get another set so we have a set to change off with. I can move in my bed without the "cold spots". They are Yummy.

I don't care for the microfiber sheets to me they are too slippery and don't stay on the bed very well, plus they are hot to sleep under, I prefer good old flannel in the winter and when it warms up I love 100% cotton that I find are getting harder to find and when you do they are kinda pricy.

Re: Flannel Sheets . . . .Are disappearing!

LOVE Malden Mills. Since we have a summer cottage in Maine use them most of the year. HOWEVER they seem to have a short life. After maybe 15 - 20 washing they thin and pill. My DH loves them so I purchase 2 sets a year. Did realize that DH was drying on high, so maybe now that I'm the designated sheet launderer and dry on low they will last longer.

Before Malden Mills we liked the super chunky flannel sheets. Did find they too required tender laundering to stay soft and fluffy.
