I have been meaning to go through the box of candles in my basement from my move last summer. Turns out there were two boxes, from two different locations in my last home. Seeing this thread, I went right to it. Had just gone through another small box of candles yesterday. Reinforced my moratorium on buying more candles. I can't even allow myself to stop and take a whiff. I have nearly 50 jar candles of various makes and sizes. Some very old an unopened, the newest from last winter.
Favorite brands include Wood Wick (the large tubs), Voluspa, Modern Alchemy and Village candle. Several older Slatkin candles on hand.
Most were purchased from Marshalls/ Home Goods.
Right now burning: in living room: an older Avon Winter Wonderland jar. Just finished a Wood Wick tub. Entry hall: Cheerful Giver snowman jar. These are both older jars that were over half spent. In the kitchen I have an old, huge jar- Old Town Market brand Apple Crisp bought at Walmart years ago. Still smells great with good throw; I just do not usually burn a candle in the kitchen.
I burn candles more often in the fall and winter months, when I am indoors and the house is closed up. I need to burn and enjoy them more frequently. It will take a good 5+ years to enjoy/ gift all these candles!
Good thing they all fit in two medium size bins and take up little space in my basement.

So my question is---what in the world do you do with all those candles? Do you actually burn them? I have a few that were gifts that are going to donation---never been a candle person---hate to dust the things and would NEVER burn them---too dangerous------Now I have a few shaped stick candles that I use for seasonal decor in candlestick holders, but not to burn. Think the fake flame candles are ok but won't buy any----trying to purge the dust catchers in my house.

Candles are a lot of fun when you find a scent you really like and walk into a room and think, gee what is that wonderful scent?! I think the Fall and Holiday scents bring back some nostalgia . The coffee and food scented ones can be especially fun. Beach ones are nice too in cold of winter. Have to have some variety to make it interesting . I also love flameless ones and have quite a few as well. It is like a hobby in a way.

DH brought home some melts which were given to him by a friend who's wife did selling parties. I am crazy about the scent and it's discontinued!
They're Scentsy "Hemingway". I would love to have a bath soap and lotion in this scent!

They seem to have that Scentsy on line at Amazon. I googled it and some are there for various prices.

I'm a Goose Creek Candle girl.....they burn clean and clear all the way down to the last drop of wax - never any wax hanging on the side of the jar, and the scents are superb. I don't have a lot of storage, so I don't have more than 10 or 12 jar candles at a time, and about 40 wax melts, so I have Goose Creek burning or melting daily. I love the "foodie/bakery" scents: Eggnog Icing, Sweet Banana Bread, Blueberry Cheesecake - too many to list!

I found Root candles at their outlet store back when I was first out on my own.
There's something soothing about a clean, scented, burning candle. Brings a bit of ambience, peace and tranquility to your space when you dim the lights. They're also a nice addition if you pray, meditate or have a time of remembrance at home.
I put short dinner tapers on the table. A bit of nostalga for me when people actually set the table and talked to each other over a simple evening meal without intrusive electronic devices or a blaring tv screaming for your attention.

Thank you all for your responses. I am enjoying reading about different brands and scents! I have had a few dud candles in my short time of collecting them, so good to know which ones are good. I have never had a Goose Creek, or Crossorads candle that I didn’t like. Have one Pure Integrity , Pumpkin Pie, which has been very nice, will buy more. Trapp, even the tiny melts , scent the whole house . Also Tyler candles are a nice splurge as well.
