It has one of my foremost desires in a kitchen-- it's bright and cheerful, thanks to that nice bank of windows.  The touches of blue tile are so pretty.

I don't think the valence or mini-curtain is doing the look any favors, so I would just get rid of that.

I love an interesting mix of counter materials in a kitchen, so the marble-topped island combined with the rich wood counter tops is very appealing to me.  And those little glass-fronted cabinets up top are darling!

I would like to someday have one of those big sinks too.

I love white cabinets.  They make the kitchen so bright.  I don't care for the valance.  I would have some type of roll down shade.  When it's dark, I want privacy and do not want anyone looking in.
