Re: Fall decorating

[ Edited ]

@Bettyanne I usually like to the first week in September. Last year my son visited us from Colorado at the end of August. I thought it would be cool to have our Fall decorations up. Keep in mind, I go all out with decorations, no matter what season.

That year I got my Christmas tree down and decorated it all in Fall motif before he arrived. (I posted a picture of it last year). You could not miss the tree as you came down the stairs, it was pretty much in your face.

Well, later we were at my parents house chit chatting and I mentioned my tree. My son said "what tree?". I looked at him like, OMG you are kidding right? You didn't see this 7' tree all decorated as you walked RIGHT BY IT?

He is just one of those oblivious kind of guys that does not notice anything. So, he will be visiting this weekend. Haven't decided if I will decorate it and put it right at the front door so he can walk around it or just not put up decorations until after he leaves since he doesn't even notice.

I only decorate for fall and Christmas (and a little bit for Easter).  My pumpkins, etc. won't get put out until the end of September.

For me the middle of September at the earliest.  I will do a bit indoors and will do some outdoors on my front proch.

I get real pumpkins, mums and a bale of straw (yes it is a mess to get in the car) and it looks so festive!  I like to leave it out up to Thanksgiving so I don't want to get them too soon so they last.

Over Labor Day weekend,I think. Got some adorable halloween plates yesterday from Homegoods---I decorate my fireplace mantle and the walls only--have a tiny apt so no room. I have fiestaware plates for the hoildays that I use--have plate hangers that I use for the walls.

I'll probably wait until the first or second week of September, but I'm already playing with options in my thoughts.
