Well, today I received my first Fall 2014 Catalog. It was from Lakeside and had some interesting items for sale. Some of them reminded me of Valerie Parr Hill. It's not officially Summer 2014, and we're starting to think about the Fall. It's kind of nice to see the pictures and all the reminders of the seasons to come, and yet, after this past winter filled with snow and cold weather, I'm ready for the beach and not ready to rake leaves. A friend of mine always tells me that it's only six months until Christmas, and we always share a good laugh as we sit on her deck with our glasses of lemonade. I guess when the temperature reaches 90 degrees for several days in August, we'll be thinking about cooler temperatures, football games, Halloween, Thanksgiving dinner and making lists for Christmas presents. And, there's always our trip to Radio City for the Christmas Show and dinner at Rockefeller Center as we gaze at "The Tree" and the skaters as they whiz by. But, for now, it's make lunch for tomorrow's sail on our boat. Enjoy this glorious summer.

I know what you mean. I hate the cold. I was talking to a sales person at Yankee Candle recently and she said that they were preparing to put the Fall candles out. I know it will be here before we know it and I love Fall. I just feel as if all the stores are rushing us so much.

It does seem the retail establishment is rushing the seasons/holidays more than ever. If you let it, it can rob you of the "now". After enough years, I don't really "need" anything seasonal, so I do my best to ignore this marketing (except for Christmas in July...LOVE IT!) until closer to the season. I do know that if you want new items, and wait until the season is in full swing, many things will be limited or gone.

I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday to look for decor to spice up our pool area because our house is on the market, gone! is the summer things except for a scattered few. All pumpkins, leaves, fall wreaths and Christmas stuff out. So yes we are pushed into buying and thinking ahead or it is gone either that or you will be like me left standing, my own fault had my head in the sand while being busy with so many other things.

sometimes it is a good thing! several years ago i bought a $400 something gazebo swing for my backyard that had been clearanced for a little under $200 at home depot! they had to move them out for the fall items. when it is big ticket items like that for the yard/house then i am all for it because here in central ms we rarely have a real winter! we have to keep the A/C on here until after thanksgiving because the temps are still in the mid 70's so we are always able to find outdoor furniture/accessories for great prices AND we are still able to use them for several month without having to put them away until next year like i have had people tell me they do until the weather is good enough to use again.
everything else i just ignore until i need/want it. it does not bother me at all to see ""christmas in july"" and the stores changing out their stock. it has been this way for years.
