Any idea what the cement/stone shelf jutting from the wall on the right side of the photo is?  Could it be a shallow sink or basin or ?  Wasn't able to find any information on it.  Looks like it might be an arched niche or pass-through in the common wall between the kitchen and the room with the Christmas-decorated fireplace.  Thanks.


@QVCisFun   Beautiful stone walls and the blue shutters in the first picture are sigh-worthy. As for that niche, no idea, but I wondered if it was some sort of fireplace or oven. Just a guess, though.

I love all of it, especially the easiness of it and the soft, chalky paint, but the dark ceiling beams I could never live with; they seem to make the ceilings feel too low for my taste.
