How could anyone really live comfortably in a room like this!!!?

I know, right!  There's just too much stuff and furniture stuffed in there.

The first things out would be the unappealing coffee and round side tables, along with what appear to be rattan chairs in the foreground.

There's no "ground".  It's too light and it's for me like driving on a raised overpass - no clear horizon.  Disconcerting.

Speaking of liking it because  it is uncluttered.  It is nothing but clutter of furniture.  It looks like the rattan chairs belong in another design style and one of the sofas belongs elsewhere.  Safe the armoires.  Set that sofa up right facing the armoires in center and put the club chairs on either side.  Get some side tables beside those chairs and a great looking large cocktail table or huge ottoman/storage bin in front of the sofa and a wonderful Oriental wool rug.  Ouch, that pile after layer of distressed wood (save the armoires) has to go.
