Overall, I like it.  I think though, I'd prefer the base to be the same color as the ceiling.

Nope.  I want BLING in an entryway fixture.  It can be contemporary or traditional but I want it to shine and sparkle and wrap it's light around you and say "COME ON IN!  GLAD YOU'RE HERE, GLAD YOU CAME.  IT'S A PARTY NOW!"

Beautiful!  It forms the perfect shape for filling that space and goes well with the rest of the house.  A real eye catcher.
