Keep the wool rug and remove everything. Start over with individual chairs around an oval table (perhaps a drop-leaf if space is limited) and a light fixture sized for the room. Select artwork, linens and dishes with colors drawn from the rug. Half curtains in a geometric print or stripe would add texture and dimension to the room, yet let the light in and provide privacy.

Much too busy for my taste, but as others have mentioned,  the owner would probably be very interesting and fun to visit.

This room needs a little softening for me.

More neutrals interspersed would make me enjoy it better.

My add on would be window coverings in a sheer ivory.

Generally I like uncovered windows best, but here, with all the mis-matched bold colors, I think they need something.

Love the room itself but dislike all the fabric on the chairs and the rug. I would change that and be happy with the room.

This reminds me of my mother's dining room.  Gee ... it must be close to 20 years ago!

Her furniture was maple Early American with the kind of chairs with the "tie-on" back and seat cushions.  

One  year when I was spending my vacation with them, my mother and I were talking about getting new cushions ... and I had the "brilliant" idea just to recover the existing cushions.  We went through her fabric stash and found a big box of fabrc samples that were the exact size to cover the cushions.(She was with fabrics like I am with yarn!)  No two pieces were alike.

So ... I spent the day sewing cushion covers ... each a different color and print.  Looked wonderful when done.
