The "New England Home" site is a nice source of old house interiors. I thought that this one has been decked out for Christmas in a way that is understated, natural and festive:
The old craft of drying orange slices and tucking among holiday greens....
Love the nice thick, festooning garland.
Side note: I wonder why old, old mirrors that are losing their "silvering" are so mysterious. I find them so appealing-- you never know what might look back at you out of the past...
Look at that little replica of the house (gingerbread?) on the kitchen table:
They had more photos, but, for some reason, I'm having a terrible time loading images today! Not sure if it's at the QVC end or mine!

@Oznell It's this board......it's been going on and off for me all day. I wanted to say that Christmas tree reminded me of the ones my dad and I used to cut down from our own back yard on Christmas eve......kinda scrawny, but beautiful after I finished decorating it!

Reminded me of ours too, way back when, @2blonde!

@Oznell Typically Connecticut. Essex is one of the quanitest, historic towns that sits at the mouth of the Connecticut River. It houses the Griswold Inn known as the Gris to locals. The Gris, after a heroic fight by the townspeople, was captured and occupied by the British during the War of 1812. The battle is re=enacted in May by locals who dress in early-American gear and accompanied by fife and drum corps walk from the harbor to the Gris in what they call, "The Loser's Day Parade" celebrating their bravery even though they were put down. After the parade, libations are served on the porch. The British burned 17 ships in the harbor. Today the Gris is thought to be the oldest continuing run inn in the U.S. It houses a tavern, lunch and dining rooms, a wine tasting room, brunch room, hunt room and bedrooms for those who wish to stay for one or more nights, including a beautiful bridal suite. If you are in the Connecticut Shore area in May, be sure to visit the Gris, or for that matter visit any time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Griswold_Inn

I think the natural look fits this beautiful home perfectly. I like the calming vibe it gives off.
Now the tree looks like a 2x4 with branches nailed to it.....it just doesn't work for me.

Wow, @tobes, that is fascinating historical lore on Essex and that fabulous inn you reference. What an asset that must be to the community. Thanks so much for taking the time to share that!

While I've somewhat mixed feelings on a good bit of the decor, both Christmas and overall, I covet the house. That living room looks too narrow for two sofas. Two armchairs set an an angle with a small table between them would have opened up the room and provided more floor space.
