Dyson - which one

I have several old Electrolux vacs and am finding it very hard to find bags. So I am looking to purchase a new vac. I know I want a Dyson, but am confused on which one to get. I live in a 2 level town home and have a small Maltese (dog). Which one do I go for - DC 24, DC 25, or a canister. Also, to do animal type or not. I am leaning towards the upright over the canister. Advice is appreciated.
