I have had 2 Dyson 'cordless' vacuums. When they 'work', they work GREAT ! However, the cordless ones seem to have a frequent problem charging. Presently on one vac, a red flashing light is on the battery and it will not charge. I love Dyson but can not be aggrevated with a vac that sometimes works or breaks frequently. The one that won't charge now I've only had about a year. I am considering purchasing a ''CORDED' Dyson vac instead of a cordless one to avoid the tempermental battery problems. Do you have a corded Dyson and if so, do you know if it works as well as a cordless one? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I have had my corded Dyson for many years. It is a little heavy, but boy does it clean. I love it.

@sarahpanda. Before you spend more money on vacuum cleaners, I'd call Dyson customer service, describe your problem and see if they'd have a solution.

Better buy a corded before they are gone. In Mr. D's last commercial I saw - he was pushing the cordless - and said they wouldn't make corded again. I've bought several with cord so guess i won't be buying another Dyson. That charging part just isn't dependable enough for me - - and they never explain the docking/recharge station. Looks like you'd need an electrician to install a plug half way up a wall. (Probably incorrect on that point)

Thanks to all - I decided to call Dyson customer service and the rep. was very helpful. She said it's a battery problem and luckily enough , I'd registered my warranty with them when I purchased it last December. She's sending me a new battery out for free. Now, all I have to do is to figure out how to put it on and I'll be home free !

I have the dyson canister. It is corded. You don't have to deal with the heavy upright and it is a fabulous machine. Many attachments. It was good value for the money.

When you get it, and if you're still not sure as to how you install it, just call them again. Guaranteed they will be very helpful and knowledgeable.
Beyond their great products, Dyson also has amazing customer service.
I tried to buy a new hose that my then-cleaning lady broke on my 12 year old Dyson and the guy just sent it to me for free. He showed me how to remove the old one and said that when I get the new one if I've forgotten or just want any help with putting the new one on to call. I've dealt with them several times and it's been nothing less than above and beyond. ![]()
I have four of the corded Dysons, including that one that is now about 15 years old, and they all work great. The only model, if it's even still out there that I would not recommend is the DC40. It's a lightweight one but its abilities are also pretty lightweight. I had been sick and never did anything about it but I did post a review on their site. Very soon after that i was contacted by Dyson. She gave me instructions to just gather it up and take it to the UPS Store of my choice, get the track# and email it to her, at which time she would ship me out a brand new upgraded model.
This didn't cost me a dime. She immediately shipped the new one, as soon as I gave her the tracking# for the other one and I got it within 2 days.
I also have two of their floor-stand fans and love those a lot!

I have 2 Dyson corded vacs, 1 Shark corded vac & 1 Dyson cordless vac ..... The charge on the Dyson cordless only last a short time even though they claim it should last 40 minutes ..... all of the corded vacs are good but for the price the Shark is the best ... I think Dyson is very overrated 🙃

I hung the cordless docking station on the window jamb by my washer. There is a plug behind the washer so I didn’t need an electrician.

I used to swear by my Dyson cordless vacs until this year during our FL season. That Dyson was over 5 years old and unplugged for the 9 months when we were back home.
It would not charge. We took it for repair and the very knowledgeable guy explained it needed a new battery which would be very expensive. We declined and I called Customer Service: no nice replacement deals and if we took it to their repair center, it would still cost a lot with no guarantees....the one-way drive was close to 3 hour drive !
Thank you Dyson but no thanks ! Found a Bissell at Bed Bath & Beyond in a dented box for $60 with my regular coupon. Wonderful
Replaced another cordless Dyson at home with a Shark Rocket: very lightweight, moveable base and an extremely long cord ( can do the flight of stairs easily...at 73 !
Oh yes,
same story: B3, coupon and dented box in clearance area: $120.
