Does anyone know if the Dyson DC41 Animal has a belt? .... the beater bar on my Dyson stopped working .... I looked at a video on utube on how to fix the beater bar but it still does not spin so, now I am thinking perhaps there is a belt that needs to be replaced? Thanks!

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

I don't think so. I've only seen a belt on my really old DC07.

Like ID said, if you call them you will get great help. I've called them a few times over the years and it always went brilliantly well. They are the best!

I also have a DC41 and really love it.

Just an aside - you did push the button by the 'on' button to make it spin, right?

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

Hi ID2 and Chickenbutt ... thanks for your help ... I love my DC41 also .... the other day something got stuck in the beater brush so I followed the instructions on a video that I found on utube and the beater brush still does not spin ... I spent so much time on line reading about all of the Dyson models ... in reading all of this stuff it was mentioned that it could possibly be the clutch or the belt ??? ... I am the type of person who does not stop until the problem is resolved ... I decided that the QVC forums was a good place to get an answer ... I did push the red button by the on button but no luck ... I will call Dyson and get some help ... I have an older model Dyson that I have been using in the meantime .... THANKS again for your help.

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

I own 2 Dysons, and bought one for each of my daughters.

If we have problems we just take them to the Dyson's repair place. Call the 800 number. They'll tell you where to go.

Many times they fix it for free if it's easy. If they aren't busy they'll probably fix it while you are standing there.

They always did for me and my daughters. Never charged any money. Gave me a whole new hose (which couldn't be cheap). The Dyson was over warranty.

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

Hi again, January! Sorry to hear you haven't been able to resolve the problem. Don't hesitate to call them. They are the best. They will go get one of the model you are talking about and bring it to their desk so that they can more easily explain what to do over the phone. I've never had a problem they couldn't fix.

It's also great that they have a 5 year warranty. One time a few years ago, one of my DC25 models seemed to be getting more warm than I was comfortable with, so they told me where to take it and it would be sent to them to give it a go over. They went through it (it was ok) and even updated some parts. But the cool thing was that they called me first to make sure it was ok with me to put some more updated parts in it. Just the nicest people.

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

Thanks annabelle ... I will call Dyson and find out how far they are from where I live ... I have never seen a Dyson repair store in my area but, I will give it a try .... There is a repair store in the town where I live but it is for all brands and very costly so my best bet is to call Dyson.... thanks again.

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

There will probably be designated service center in your area, but not necessarily a site where they do the work right there. For me it was a Sears service center, but they sent everything to Sacramento. It took about a week and they called me to pick it up, when it had come back from wherever they sent it.

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

Hi Chickenbutt .... I went on line and searched for a Dyson repair service center in my area ... I was surprised to see so many that are close to me .... it seems that Sears,Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowes, Kmart and a few other places service the Dyson ... I am going away for 2 weeks so when I get back I will make some calls and bring the Dyson in for repair ... I think I will call Dyson first just in case they can lead me through the repair on the phone... thanks .. it has been a pleasure talking to you!

Re: Dyson DC41 Animal Question

I hope you were able to call them. This is always my course of action because they are so helpful and knowledgeable. Better if you can fix it over the phone than having to hassle with sending it in. Smiley Happy

Happy trails! I hope you have a good trip.
