Dyson DC 40

I guess this is the newest version of the Dyson ball. I bought the Electrolux Versatility a couple of years ago and it died and paying to fix it is pointless as I don't like it. It tips over anytime I use the hose reach and doesn't have any attachments to reach under my bed. The suction is ok at best.

I went shopping today for a new Vacuum and I want one that will automatically go from floor to carpet without having to push or click and floor level adjustments.

I want to finally get a vacuum that will last and continue to have suction for more than a year or so.

Can anyone tell me if Dyson is all the rage and if you own the DC40 can you give me a review?
