Do these things work for the regular house fly?

We now have cattle on each side of us, and I do love the cows, but I swer there are more flies. I have 3 dogs and we are going in and out a lot and these flies coming in are driving me crazy.

HOW do they hide so well by the time I find the dang flyswatter?

Anyhow do the dyatraps attract flies?

TIA

I have ordered the Dynatraps but not used them yet. In the meantime, get yourself some electrified racket/shatters. Harbor Freight has them, and I am sure other stores do as well. You put the batteries in, and when you see a fly, press the button on the side of the racket and just touch the insect or get it to fly into the racket (actually quite easy). Zap! Bug dies without having to smear it across your home surfaces, and you just tap the bug carcass into the trash can!

I had two of the larger and smaller ones for several years, but counted on them to catch mosquitos, not flies.

While I think they helped a bit, I would still get attacked by mosquitos if I went out at dusk.

To be fair, I live in a heavily wooded area and nothing will really get rid of all the insects.

Having said that, I would check with a store that specializes in fly control around cattle.  Something tells me there might be better alternatives.

I now have a monthly mosquito spray and the Dynatraps were given away.

I have woods that border our property and have 3 Dynatraps. I also have dogs. I havne't had a fly problem since I plugged these in. Check the website because I believe they list what this does attrack.

I also would check a tractor supply store or a search on line because there are many types of pest control devices. I was surprised at how many were offered at my local hardware store..

Good Luck.

I think this is the third summer I have the  1/2 acre DynaTraps outside. The first summer, all I ever found in the traps were moths and click beetles. No observable decrease in flies or mosquitoes which plague me 24 hours a day. Effectiveness no better the second summer, but then I paid for  expensive gadgets from the pest control company which may have killed some mosquitoes but did not decrease the mosquito bites.

Once again I have the trap outside and for the first time, there are actually mosquitoes in the trap. I don't have any idea why this time it is attracting mosquitoes but despite this I get a dozen bites on each arm as soon as I step outside.  While some flies do enter the trap, there are plenty more hovering at my doors waiting to enter the house when I open the door.

Last year I put one of the traps inside the house to catch the flies. While it would get a fly or two, I still had to actually chase nearly all the flies down with a swatter. When I couldn't find the flies, they waited patiently for me to get cozy in bed, then they would come buzzing around my ears.

I live in an urban type neighborhood in a small town in central Texas, no farm animals nearby.

So do I think the DynaTraps work for flies and mosquitoes? No.  Catches some but doesn't make a dent in the population.

That said, I am THRILLED with the Recent TSV F13498 that plugs into an outlet in the house. I have a smallish great room setup (living/kitchen/dining) and plugged one in the living area. As soon as the flies come into the house, they go straight for this trap, never to be seen again.

I don't understand why some reviewers are dissatisfied with the product. Firstly I would never put it on my kitchen counter area. Why attract bugs to there!  It may help that my wall where the trap is plugged in is a light color, like a darker shade of white, so the glow of the UV bulb is strong.  Also I have the trap in an open area. And certainly it is plugged in 24 hrs. a day because I want the flies killed pronto upon entering the house.

Why let the flies get the layout of the house all day and then expect them to fly to another room in the dark.  I would not put the trap next to the door because when flies come in they don't stop to hang out right next to the door.

I think these plug in traps are very costly, but in our house, flies cannot be tolerated so I splurged. As long as they continue to work, I will find a way to keep them going.

Cheap, ugly flypaper still gets the job done. And you don't have to chase the flies around. But can you live with it???
