Re: Dryer sheets or liquid softener

I hang many of my items up to dry and they do get stiff. After they have dried completely, I then put them in the dryer on "air dry" and toss in a dryer sheet. It does help to make them softer. Been doing this forever.

Re: Dryer sheets or liquid softener

I don't use either one anymore either. The liquid gums up the tray that you put the detergent/bleach/softener. I also hang up almost all of my clothes to dry as well. The jeans do tend to be stiff so I will toss in the dryer for a minute or two to soften then remove, hang, put in the closet.

Neither.....also don't use any detergent that has it included in it...nor do I ever use bleach of any kind....

OMG _ I only have white sheets, white BR rugs and white towels so i can bleach them every time they are washed. I can only imagine the germs on those. I also bleach napkins and DH's handkerchiefs. I have a very few seasonally colored or embroidered hand towels that don't get bleached but that is all. I can't stand the thought of not bleaching this stuff.

Neither...don't like the artificial chemical smell or feel.

Same here....

I use ""dryer balls""

I used to use these too but now that I live where the dryer is right in the hallway outside my kitchen they are much too noisy. I only use them when I dry something like a comforter or guilt.

Caldrea liquid. A little goes a very long way. Worth the price.

Re: Dryer sheets or liquid softener

I use dryer sheets because my kids and husband wear fleece and it gets the static is horrible. I like liquid fabric softener but it gets gunky in the tray in the washer. In the summer I usually don't use either since static isn't a problem. I read that liquid fabric softener was made when people always hung their clothes to dry so that the clothes would stay soft, don't know if it's true or not but it makes sense to me.

Re: Dryer sheets or liquid softener

I was told years ago that the film on dryer sheets is damaging to the electronic sensors in the new dryers that sense the dryness of the clothing to run some cycles.

I have used both over the years, but prefer the liquid because I can control the amount, and we hang dry a lot of clothing, and it needs some for anti static reasons.

Re: Dryer sheets or liquid softener

Neither. I had dryer sheets ruin some fabrics. I never used fabric softener, but I do use washing soda for some fabrics.
