Dryer Sheet or Liquid ?

I am so tired of cleaning the liquid Downy out of the cup of my machine. Its like pure gum now! It is horribble. Can anyone recommend a new liquid? Do any of you use dryer sheets? How are they, do they work, which brand? Sorry for all the questions, but Downy is not like it used to be and the april fresh scent isnt even close to what it smelled like. I am sooo tired of it. Thanks for any help! Have a great day.
