Not a fan - it reminds me of a museum or funeral parlor for some reason.  Also a huge dust and pet hair collector if you have furry friends in your house.

Re: Draped Gateway To The Next Room

I am a curtain/drape fan and have all of my windows with treatments.  In my opinion it brings warmth to the house.  While I haven't used drapes in this way, in between rooms, I like it . It is different.  However, it would depend on the space and the rooms.

I don't care for it either. I like drapes on windows but not used in this fashion.

Drapes were used in this way much more often in the 40s and 50s than today.  But in this photo, it's done so much more beautifully.  I like it because it acts as a frame to the lovely room you're about to enter.  And it's especially effective with that beamed ceiling.

Don't like drapes anywhere.  Just dirt and dust collectors IMO.  Would much prefer to see a shoji screen between rooms.

@jubilant. The room is lovely.  Not a fan of the draped entrance, but, it may work perfectly in their home.

My cats would be racing up and down them, for sure.
