[Desert Lily]

I don't know what type of room this is. Sitting area of a bedroom? Family room? I like everything, except there's too much "stuff" on the mantel & on the coffee table.

Terrible.  

Detracts from the fireplace that I think should be the focal point in this room. The overgrown humongous cabinets are an eyesore causing the fireplace fade into the background. 

I'd like to see the rest of the room, but it appears the furniture is not positioned properly in relation to the fireplace and why is it centered in the middle of what looks like a large room?

The furniture style does go with the fireplace and crown molding, cabinets do not.

Overall, IMO, lots of styling mistakes in this room.

I don't like that the built-ins do not match - one is angled into the corner. I guess I like symmetry.

I agree with @PA Mom-mom  and @Foxxee  that the fireplace should be the focal point.  I don't like the built ins and especially the elaborate mouldings at all.

Too ornate, but if they came with my house, I'd keep them because of the useful storage space.

The built in’s are beautiful but they are too much for the room 👎

I love the area and the built in shelves are lovely!  Everything is appealing, warm and inviting.

No, no, no, and the way they decorated the mantle is yuck and what is the bowl of fruit doing in this room?  Take it to the kitchen.

Very pretty room.  Love the built ins and that moulding!!
