I love area rugs. They make a statement, add warmth and character, and pull spaces together. I can't imagine mot having them.

I had hardwood floors in all rooms except bathrooms when living down south. When we moved back up north we planned to remove the nearly new carpeting in the home we bought and put down hardwood. So glad we didn't. Hardwood is cold and hard, very uncomfortable up here by the Great Lakes. Walking on hard floors in FL is a lot different than walking on cold floors in OH. Hard floors can be slippery for anyone, especially for us as we age, and they affect the acoustics in a home.  We have engineered bamboo flooring in foyer and kitchen, LVP in bathrooms, and everything else is wall-to-wall carpeting.

I think wood floors are beautiful, however I do not like them in my home.  Give me carpet all the way!

I'm for carpeting in all my rooms except the bathrooms and kitchen.  We did put wood look tile in the master bedroom and I regret it. If you don't dust mop it every 5 days or so there are dust bunnies flying everywhere and it's a pain for me to get down on a hard floor and even more of a pain to get back up!  Sadly, I didn't consider that. I guess I thought it would be easier but, for me, it's been a "real pain".

I am the opposite--I like carpeting in rooms----I got a beautiful , luxury , pet resistant, carpet for my house a few years ago--and it was amazing----I like to vacuum carpeting--kind of relaxing for me and I have a dynamite vacuum cleaner too,  and I always kept it clean. I think it's a regional thing or it used to be anyway---I like hard floors in the baths, kitchen, entry etc, but I like the feel of carpet under my feet. I do like rugs as well.

Well ladies thanks for all your replies, just came from a house with wall to wall carpeting and have to agree that I like it much better than wood floors. These floors show more dust than my old carpet, it is driving me nuts.

Have a roomba  but I find myself following it around telling it that it missed a piece of dust, lol!

Kachina624 I realize the Yorkie is my problem. I adopted this dog from my niece a year after she got her because she was unable to care for her. She is doing alot better now but still has accidents here and there. Oh well!

Yorkie's are my breed of choice and I've had four of them although not all at the same time.

They are lovely dogs but can be difficult to housebreak.  I've spoken to many other Yorkie owners and they all say the same thing.  Just keep working with her and she will come around.

In my opinion you can't find a more fun loving and happy dog than a Yorkie.  To me, they are worth the time it takes to train them.  Good luck with your pup.

My entire house has hardwood floors. I put big rugs down to prevent the echo you get when everything is just bare. Softens and warms up the rooms. My hardwoods are teak...love them!! Heart

My entire main floor has hard wood floors except for laundry room (tile), guest bathroom (carpet) and bath(tile).  I have area rugs in my living room, family room, dining room and I'm about to put one under my 113 inch farm table in the bump out area of my kitchen.  I like the look of it and gives my floors scratch protection.  Also have small rugs in front of entrance doors.
