Re: Don't Throw Away Those Dough Bowls

Give it away!  That's what I've been doing the last two days.  Get rid of the clutter!!!!!!  I am at that stage of life now!

All of you who have too much stuff!  I am here to say don't hang on to it, get rid of it.

I have to say this apologies to all above--but if anyone is reading this and thinking maybe they will/won't if they have one I just in good spirit give them my blessing to divest themselves of many "things!"!  LOL!!!

Re: Don't Throw Away Those Dough Bowls

Beautiful photos, @jubilant ,  and it's fun to see you here again!

I don't have any of the long, rectangular trough-like ones which are so versatile for display and other uses.  Are you lucky enough to have one of those?  I just have three old, 'relatively' round ones of different sizes, and love them, plain or filled.

My favorite thing of all is to simply stack them-- more drama, and the different woods and patinas contrast in a pretty way.

Re: Don't Throw Away Those Dough Bowls

I have just one, oblong dough bowl. When I am in the decorating "mood", I always find a way to incorporate it with my seasonal decor, whatever season that may be. I love mine.

@Sooner   I know what you mean. We had a big cleaning out of our house this year..... all the closets and even the attic!  We will no longer have to go to the attic for anything and that's a good feeling.

The dough bowl is big and was in my kitchen full of apples and pears but it took up too much room in my small kitchen.  I have been looking for a center piece for my dining room table and I thought ...why not use my big dough bowl!   I really like several of these I posted. I want to pick out one I can change up easily for Fall and Christmas with decor I already have.

@Oznell   Thank you....it's good to be back.

I do have a big dough bowl.  It is big..... 18" L X 12" W and 6" deep.  Right now it's in my kitchen with fruit.  It's way too big and takes up a lot of counter space that I really need. I  tried it on my dining table and it's a perfect size for that room and table.

I did not know either.  Interesting.  Good way to do it sounds like.

Oh, yeah, that's big, @jubilant --   I can see how it would work so well in a dining room.

They're so useful--  once I saw a photo of a long one, being jauntily used under a coffee table to neatly corral books and magazines--  looked great!

Not familiar with dough bowls - not sure I've actually seen one. The creative minds that put those centerpieces together are so talented.

Lovely photos and centerpieces.  I've never had a dough bowl, but will keep my eyes open for them, next  time I'm in an antique shop.

Yes.  I just went to a big antique mall and there were quite a few very nice ones that I saw and all different sizes, too!
