Many people still make them and sell them on Etsy.
YOu can also find them in your matching kitchen stuff at some stores.
I bought a dust cover from Etsy for my glass stove top.
I just ordered this from Etsy for my glass top. I am really afraid I am going to drop something on it when I am working in the kitchen but not usign the stove.

@VaBelle35 That is actually attractive. Can it be used for additional workspace?

@mustang66lady. OMG we had the same stove. Like you said, a match had to be lit in order to bake. Ours was in pristine condition. I believe there was a place for potholders as well. I was also born in 56.

That's what it says. I don't know if I'll use it that way as I have plenty of counter space, but I like the idea of a hard cover in case I drop something on it.

I've been trying to find a photo of that stove but am having no luck. I am pretty sure it was a Kenmore purchased from Sears-my parents were true Kenmore customers until the company was sold. Funny and not really realated to this, but I currently live in an old Sears house. One of those where the customer bought the kit from the Sears catalogue. I know my parents would not have ordered a stove from the catalogue but there was a Sears store in a town near ours that they shopped at regularly and most everything for the home was purchased there-appliances, vacuums, tools, as well as clothing and shoes. Our store had a candy counter at the front entrance and my DF could not pass without getting a pound of warm cashews. And he always expected a fruitcake from Sears at Christmas. Even though I was sure I would burn my face off lighting that stove, I would give almost anything to have it again!

@mustang66lady If you do find a picture please post. Reading your post brought tears to my eyes, I could see that stove.
That is cool that you live in a Sears house, I only heard about them. Our town was too small to have a store, just the catalog for us.

That's really interesting, and looks nice.
We actually did drop something on the last glass topped stove we had, and the glass cracked, so it does happen.
Luckily my husband had taken out some insurance coverage thing on that stove. Something like $25 dollars or so, and we ended up using the benefit.
My husband loves to tell the tale of that, since we never, ever had taken out any extra insurance coverage like that on any appliance....my husband thinks, and he's probably right, that the chances are you will not use it, and the money saved from abstaining from taking extra coverage will be used if and when something actually happens. I see his point, but in this case it turned out to be a good decision.

I use mixer cover, toaster cover and rice maker cover.
Also use the special bowl separates, they are soft and you put them in between bowls so they don’t break. Many people use them for fine china
