Similar to my kitchen we just updated. Ivory cabinets but black island. Dark, swirly granite. Wooden floors instead of tile. Just bought a red server cabinet to make the kitchen pop. Hubs made a face when I ordered it. Now he loves it. Ain't that the way it goes sometimes?

I think the big difference is the light. The DA kitchen was in the basement, and always seemed very dark. Once you mention the inspiration I can see the similarities. It's a beautiful kitchen.

Nothing reminds me of the DA kitchen. That was dark and dank looking. I always kept thinking they were in the bilge of a ship, like the Titanic.

I can't even think who Violet was, the young girl who worked in the kitchen with Mrs. Clapmore or whatever her name was?

Wonderful, cozy and charming kitchen to work in. I do like purple, but the color of the island for some reason doesn't appeal, so that I would just repaint.

@Oznell I totally agree with you about purple in the kitchen. The most appealing kitchen colors are colors found in foods or the sky. I don't think they were thinking of eggplant!
