Does Anyone Use A Natural Laundry Detergent?

[ Edited ]

I've been wanting to try a natural laundry detergent that doesn't contain dioxane or other possible carcinogens.

Or, is using Gain, Tide or other brands okay as long as the laundry is given an extra rinse cycle?

If you use a natural detergent which one do you like best?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I don't like Nellie's either.  Does not dissolve in cold water.  Bought a big bucket of it from HSN.  Still have a lot left.  I only use it on towels and in a normal cycle with warmer temps.

...........I've been using Arm and Hammer SENSITIVE (free of dyes and scents, etc.)

It's been working well, and I don't need to use a lot of it each time.

I used to use Purex Free and whatever.

Also, 'ALL' Free and whatever has been advertised.  I might try it.  I wait for sales.

Keep in mind that I haven't checked the ingredients, though.

I'm sure other posters will suggest much better brands which don't contain chemicals and perfumes, etc., etc.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I use Tide Free but use less than it says to use. I also use vinegar in the rinse cycle. I'm not wearing clothes or sleeping on sheets that still have laundry detergent on them?

I used to make my own detergent. I have also used Nellie's.

@LTT1

Thanks. I will have to try that. Is it a light scent? I buy unscented.

Sensitive skin is a nightmare.  I use Hello Sunday laundry sheets plus a tiny bit of Tide or Gain and double rinse.

Wash the BF's clothes separately as his are dirtier and greasier.......he's a machinist.  Also have to pretreat his with Shout in the spray can.  That variety of Shout is the only one that works on those stains and it's getting more difficult to find.

Re: Does Anyone Use A Natural Laundry Detergent?

It's so hard to find something that is safe and effective to wash our clothes, bedding, linens, our life!

I use something that's at my local grocery store (their brand) that is the safest I can easily get and doesn't test on animals.  Open Nature laundry detergent.

Even some of the safest listed upthread, still have ingredients that are considered unsafe.

It's a corapp shoot.  I don't want to use the most popular, the most scented, the least expensive or the most advertised  I want to use something that is safe.  But that's almost impossible.

@Nightowlz

yes the scent is barely detectable in the bottle and not at all after washing!

I was so grateful because this same company used to offer a "scent-free" style, but then discontinued.

So I ordered this one out of desperation and have been very pleased. I am very sensitive to scent also!
