@Perkup wrote:If I remember correctly, this was started and is owned by Christa Pitts' family. She was a QVC host.
It came along after my children were grown, but I did get one for little grand neices a few years ago, and they love it.
Getting another this year for my new Great Grandson. He's still a bit young, but I know he'll love it later on.
I had heard that, about Christa Pitts and her family, and at one time they presented it on Q. I just thought the 'ledgend' must have gone back further, but if not, how creative of them to come up with this.

I never had one, but it is a cute tradition kids seem to enjoy. Do you have an elf on a shelf in your home at Christmas?
No, maybe a dust bunny or two or three on a shelf.....
So it started in 2005, my kids were one in college and one in HS, don't think they'd appreciate having an elf to find. ![]()

No! My grandson has always hated elves and creatures like that. So, none for our houses.

Thank you mominohio for your kind words. I cried daily for several months over how he died. The owners of the dogs never even offered an apology and only fixed their fence after neighbors complained.
Here's a picture of my sweet baby kitty.

I liked Christa as a host. The elf is creepy, but the family is rich.

Nope, no elves on our shelves or anywhere else.

No, we don't believe in that.

I miss my own sweet kitty cat. I had him for 9 years, but exactly two years ago today, he was killed by two vicious dogs from the next street who had gotten loose. It wasn't the first time, either, they'd escaped.
That day, a meter reader had left the gate open to our backyard, and somehow our sweet kitty, who had gotten along with every animal, even skunks, until then, was brutally murdered. I wasn't home at the time, but a neighbor saw the dogs in our yard. The dogs also killed a possum that I fed regularly and who lived under our front porch. I still cry to think about it. Our kitty was so sweet and peaceful, content to just lay in our yard in the sun. He had a neurological disorder, so he'd never go far. His grave is in our backyard and I have placed a pretty golden mum there in his memory .
My heart breaks for you as I read this, how terrible for your precious, precious kitty. Thank goodness he knew all your love for those years. I know this doesn't really help you, but just know I also hurt for you . As the mom of indoor cats. Love.

Creepy little thing; no one I know does. My 9 year old received one when he was 2 or 3 as a gift and was terrified by it.

I know several people that have them but it's always given me the creeps.
