Do you have a desk that you work at?

Work, not as in for a company, but for your own doing of things at your home. I see so many on t.v., and we have one, and I have work tables in my (use to be) craft room. It's now more an area that I can work on recipes, or anything I'd like to. Use to paint and make cards on the tables.

@qualitygal, I absolutely do!  In fact, I claim several "spaces" in the house for keeping things I need to have around me, that need my attention.  For me, carving out that area in every place I have lived, is a priority.

My desk is a bed tray whose original purpose was serving breakfast in bed.  It holds my Kindle, checkbook, mail, TV guide and a few catalogs.  I can carry it to whatever room I want to be in.

Have both a desk and a computer table at home because I do most of the paperwork for several functions, including payroll and acts. Payable for DH's office.

Yes, I have a desk and a nice office area in my home.  Do I use it?  Not too often.  I usually sit at the kitchen table.

I had a desk and never used it, so I gave it away.  I keep my papers in a file folder that can take wherever I want.

I have a desk also and a designated office left over from when I worked at home.  The computer, printer, etc have a home there.  It also now houses cookbooks, recipe notebooks.

Re: Do you have a desk that you work at?

When DHretired he had brought home to his home office two desks from the company. They did not want them back so we brought the nicer one to Florida and left the smaller one for the new owners - of course after asking them if they wanted it.That is in DH's den and he has his desk top computer there and I got him a luxury desk chair one Christmas, so that is his space. he handles all the bill paying etc. since we retired. In a corner of the guest room I have a corner desk where I have my sewing machines and any paperwork items that are specifically mine like stationary, cards etc. However, I rarely use that space to work/play on my computer. It is a small chromebook so I just use my lap in a big oversized comfy living room chair.

Re: Do you have a desk that you work at?

When we moved into our new house we actually set up an office to accomodate both my husband and myselft.  There is a jut out into the middle area of one wall from the lr fireplace so we set up built ins on each side.  We had our cabinetmaker build us each a desk area.  Desk top and three drawers with overhead double set of built in shelves.  We had a credenza made to match that sits between our area.  We keep our mutual printer, land line, etc there with lots of storage underneath.  We also have a separate open desk area that either of us can use parallel to the credenza.  Truth be told my husband uses it to store everything he's not sure what to do with.  It has made great use of the space in there.  We also have file cabinets and a comfortable chair and ottoman where either of us can read.  It opens onto our back deck so it's really pleasant.  Since retiring I feel I do as much paperwork for us personally as I did in business!
