Do you bother to wash new bedding when you get it?

Just curious as to what other people do when they purchase new sheets, blankets, etc. I just ordered a Berkshire blanket, Berkshire sheets, and some Malden Mills polarfleece sheets from the Q. I normally wash all bedding I get before using them, but am wondering if this is really necessary. After all, they're all supposed to be brand new--not returned items. Guess I just tend to be extra cautious (in case they have been returned). What do you all do? Like I said, just curious.

I always do , just think of all that has touched the item.

Even under the best of circumstances just at the factories alone many hands touch, and Lord knows how many drops and drags on the floor the bedding goes through before it is packaged in the plastic cases for shipping and warehousing by the seller. For that reason I usually wash bedding before it goes on my bed.

I certainly do. Lots of factory processing chemicals in the fabric, excess dye, loose threads and lint will come out in the wash before someone has to sleep on the bedding.
