Yes, I do like wind chimes, they bring back sweet memories from my childhood. I lived on a farm as a child and had no close neighbors. I have two quality wind chimes, but we have so little wind they barely move. Additionally we have acreage so when they do chime they should not be annoying to anyone.
However in defense of others' opinions, if we get a particulary windy day, I have taken mine down because even a wind chime lover can be driven nuts by them thrashing around vigorously.

I always appreciated listening to (good quality) wind chimes, whether in my own backyard or from a neighbors. My wind chime was hung from a tree and on a windy day, I did take it down. Our properties were 1/3+ acre lots, so not too close. My preference are the medium tone chimes.

I enjoy them. I have a simple hanging wind chime near my back porch. My neighbors are distanced away from my home so it would be very hard to hear them. I also have a decorative wood one that hangs in front of the window that I open in the evening during warm weather.
Both of the chimes are placed in a area that rarely gets a lot of breeze so they only ring occasionally.

I love them but when my wonderful next door neighbor asked me I took them down. And we are living happily ever after.

I love them, but I do agree with the fact that they have to be the better quality ones, otherwise they sound too tingy and shrill......I have some that I was given 5 years ago when my Dad passed away, and he always loved to sing in church, so my friend gave me some wind chimes after he passed and said when you hear them, think of your dad singing in heaven! So needless to say I adore mine......

They are a no for us. We live on the bay which is windy and they would be making nonstop noise.
Our neighbor across the street and 3 houses down had them hanging on their front porch. We could hear them in our house. It was a nice sound but it was every day most of the day. They used this house as their vacation home ..closed up for the winter and left the wind chimes hanging on the porch. The winter is quiet here and all night long we could hear the chimes in our bedroom. In mid winter someone (not us) went and took them down..thank you to the person who did that. I just hope they hid them!

Guess I'll keep mine up (2). I think I have an out-of-the way space for them, and I can hear them, too.
I also have "nice" wind chimes - tuned, and all that. I have a music background and think they sound very nice.

I agree that well-tuned chimes can be soothing (if they're placed where they don't get heavy wind). Most of the time, however, living in a condo complex of 263 units I don't appreciate them.
Here's my wind chime story. I live in a long building of 12 units that faces a similar building with a courtyard in the middle. My bedroom is upstairs facing in, and any noises from below are magnified and echoed. I like to sleep with my bedroom window open.......I hate A/C unless it's 95 degrees. Several years ago there were some old rusty chimes hanging on a porch across the way. I didn't know the people, and I had never even seen them come out. Every night those things were clanging and banging, and I couldn't sleep. Finally one night around 2:00 a.m. I'd had enough. I got out of bed in my jammies and marched over there. I grabbed them (holding them together of course), walked back over to my condo, and put them in my trash. That was the end of that!

I hear you, @2blonde. We live on some "acreage" (not to say that sound doesn't travel),
Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns.
