Disposable Batteries

We have always kept our batteries in the refrigerator. Years ago we heard it prolonged the life of the batteries. Do you keep yours refrigerated and what do you think? TIA

No, I've never refrigerated our batteries. I keep them in a big sterilite container in our coat closet. I've never had a dud. New batteries last for years and years now.

After a fire at work the only thing I know for sure is to store and dispose of batteries in such a way that the ends do not come in contact with each other. !!!!

The refrigerator idea...... I have never heard this.

I was always told that batteries performed poorer and held less of their power in cold weather, so storing in the fridge seems like it wouldn't be a good idea.

Disposable batteries loose their power when it gets hot out, like 100 F or more. So if you live in a place where it's hot then store your batteries in the frig. Don't leave them in a hot car or any other place where they can get hot. Putting them in the frig will not make them perform any better. It will just prevent them from draining under hot conditions.
