@Pooky1   Actually, your post made me curious to look inside my dishwasher to see what was what in there.  I'd run a few "dw cleaners"  on occasion, some tablets, and cups of vinegar, that type of thing.  Not that I'd had problems with getting my dishes clean, I just felt maybe after a few years of use it needed something.

So I actually did find a filter that just unscrewed and pulled out.  It was pretty nasty looking, but not completely caked with stuff.  So I gently cleaned and rubbed it clean and reinserted it.  I looked in the manual and it said to do this every month or so.  And here it had been 4 years!!  Ha, so I'll see if I notice any difference the next time I do a load - usually once a week for a single person like me.

I'm not ready to begin taking things apart, as I'm not good at putting things back together.  But I do like that people post tips about things as we do not all have SO's that can help out.
