I personally would not want to sit on a bench at the dining room table with no support for my back. Yes, leave it for the kids.

My smaller dining room table is small so during large holiday parties I do have a bench that we use to handle more people. No one complains and they are just happy to be with family celebrating!!

Not something I would choose.

Nay - I would not want family or guests to sit at a bench - not comfortable.

I would have to say Nay...I have had dining table benches in the past and they are pretty but not that comfortable even with cushions. Plus everyone has to shift when someone needs to leave the table.

Lots of agreement here about no back support. Guests probably wouldn't linger at the table.

Nay! I need back support, maybe the young can sit on a bench, not I any longer..

Who wants to climb over a bench to get to the table?

If you need extra seating for a party, then it's fine. But I think comfortable chairs are more appropriate for dining.
