Desperate Housewives question

Anyone watch Desperate Housewives last night? I missed the credits. Who is the woman who played Susan's mother's friend? I could swear it was Valerie Harper. But I thought she passed away awhile ago.

Also, what is the name of the woman who played Susan's mother? She is one of my favorites, but I am having a brain cramp and can't remember her name. She is a very talented acress and has been in a lot of things.
