In my house all the wood trim is white. In the kitchen the builder put white baseboards against the cherry cabinets and I hated it. DH changed them out to a cherry stain, just where the cabinets are - the remainder of the kitchen the baseboards are still white.

Here in our summer place I notice that there is no baseboard where the cabinets are - the cabinets just come down to the floor, so that is another option.

Didn't read this whole thread, but cut a piece of cardboard in your white shade, and place it where you want to assess your choice. 

I think I'd personally prefer matching the cabinets, but I can also see how creamy white might be a great "pop".

Since this thread originated in April of last year, I'm guessing the OP has already done whatever she was going to do!
