Re: Deep Purple Is A Designer Favorite For Front Doors?

I have an array of at least 7 different colors that I've painted my front door the 18 years we've been living in this house! I really need to sand blast and start over again! I love changing the look of my house and by changing the color of my front door is a must!

I like yellow doors, too, but on a pale tan house with black and white trim, I can't see it. Maybe red.

Sad that one has to consider that a light color door shows a thief better than a black door. What a world we live in.

Re: Deep Purple Is A Designer Favorite For Front Doors?

I've had a plum colored from door for the past 8 years now and love it! My Bethlehem Lights wreaths look great on the door during the Christmas season and during the remaining months, I will sometimes put the grapevine wreaths on the door but not always. The only issue I have with a dark door is that it's hard to tell if the door is open or closed.

My family looked at me strangely when I told them I wanted the front door painted a purple color and they thought I was going to go out and get something bright like I did with my laundry room - it's painted a very very bright yellow and is called Gone Bananas.

Oh, the house has red brick with black shutters so the plum looks great!

Ah yes, designer's favorites. Well, good for them, but it would be on my door. Some of these purple doors are quite appealing, but I'm simply not one of those people enamored of everything purple and this isn't a color I'd choose for my front door!

There is a house near us that has a fab purple front door. The house itself is a browny taupe. Love them together.

Love the idea of plum on a house. And the dark tan/purple mentioned here sounds really beautiful. Now, I'm tempted to repaint my front door.

However, I have a storm door and even though it's wearing out (I've repaired it how many times, myself--replaced the piston, and the bracket keeps loosening) I am loathe to take it off. It's a bit of a pain, but if someone comes to the door, I can see them and not open the storm and keep Ye Dogs from surging out of the house to meet and greet (they are gregarious and want to slurp up everyone.)

Do you remember the name of the plum paint?

Re: Deep Purple Is A Designer Favorite For Front Doors?

This fall I may find the energy to paint the outside of my French doors to the patio a color. Currently the doors are painted a light tan but I am thinking a sage green would perk up the area. Thanks for the ideas.......

Re: Deep Purple Is A Designer Favorite For Front Doors?

We replaced our front door and storm door about 4 years ago. It is very plain two panel fiberglass, but Pella had the most beautiful color called cranberry we selected for both doors. Our home is cedar and is a sandy grey color.
