Re: Deep Purple Is A Designer Favorite For Front Doors?

I just had my four outside doors painted Chrome Green by Benjamin Moore. LOVE THE COLOR!

I would love a deep purple but I can't since I have reddish colored bricks on the front. Not a purple/red fan. I could never be a red hat girl.

I read in a magazine to not paint the front door a dark color. Burglars love dark colors because with their dark clothing a person on the street going by can't spot them easily when they break in.

Okay, I admit, that brought on a giggle. I sincerely doubt that burglars enter throught the front door....lol I know a couple of people who had that unfortunate experience and the theives didn't exactly ring the front door bell....lol

There are many posters here who do not answer the door when someone knocks or rings the bell because they think the boogie man is there , ringing the doorbell. Day or night.

Here's one I found while looking for something else. I think it's a rather pretty color combination, although it's a somewhat brighter shade of purple than what I would choose if I were going to go in that direction.

Thanks everyone for your comments. My house is Bungalow and has natural color shingles and the roof is brown so I think any color would go but I am thinking of a sage green as Traveler mentioned it would give it a woodsy feel plus I live in the country. What great ideas everyone has!!

Remember how your door will look like at Xmas and other holidays when you hang a wreath on it. I don't know what you could hang on a plum door.

Re: Deep Purple Is A Designer Favorite For Front Doors?

I don't know---I saw a really pretty photo of a room painted a dark marine blue and I thought "Yup--this is the color for our spare room" Had them make it up--DH painted the room and it's just not working! Not to mention if you walk against the wall--it scratches like a chalkboard! While the photos look pretty, I'm not sure I'd really want a purple front door...I'd have to somehow see it hung on my own house and that's not possible without buying it or the paint...I think I'll stick to traditional colors!

This looks very pretty--but the door is mostly glass...I don't think I'd like an entire glassless door in this color..
