Deep plum sounds beautiful--like an aubergine shade.
When designers post color selections every year, it is not to make everyone run to copy them. It is to give suggestions for colors that might not be considered otherwise. When a color becomes popular, you are able to find more examples of how they are used.

I like the idea of aubergine - the slight hint of red is nicer, IMO, than an eggplant purple. The ones in our plan are the eggplant purple.

I'm more of a neutrals type of gal. Purple won't go on my front door.

aubergine is eggplant! It's the french word for eggplant. I was just being fancy.

Oh - i think of plum or aubergine as more the color of a a rhodolite garnet - like a really dark magenta.

I do love the deep jewel tones of the purples/aubergines......but for a front door, I lean towards the rich deep wood tones, dark aged oak or mahogany.

Purple is not a good look for a front door. Very loud! Just my opinion.

I like it...that pic of the purple door is gorgeous!!

I understand the color is used under license from the British hard rock band of the 60's and 70's (Deep Purple).

I know what I would hang on a plum/purple/eggplant door.
Halloween: black,chartreuse,orange,purple
Thanksgiving
range,deep purples,yellow,gold,green
Christmas:greens,silver or gold,purples
Easter: Various greens, pale yellow, pinks, while, cream, lighter shades of purple
Etc.....it's a front door and so easy to paint and then change and paint it again. It's like a fun thing that does not take so much effort to change.
