Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

I do use them in the family room and hall over the years and I change them out. Not a fan of Clint Eastwood holding a gun over the bed.

I like the idea but I think they would need to be in a good size room....

Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

I love the concept, but don't necessarily like the actual posters chosen by this decorator (i.e., Clint Eastwood holding a gun?).

My home has 11' ceilings so artwork has to be large and in charge or it looks totally out of proportion. A friend gifted us a large abstract of a couple dining at a Minneapolis sidewalk bistro that hangs at the end of a hallway above a piece of furniture.

We have lived here for almost two years and still do not have artwork for our bedroom. I feel art should in some way be representative of it's owners and not just because.

Ok, this is just a little too large for my taste. I think these pieces are hanging too close to the ceiling.

Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

I have never decorated with movie posters. I think these shown are nice because it's a throwback to real artists illustrations instead of the photos used today.

Both my kids work/worked at the theater. My son kept bringing tons of unused pristine posters home inside the tubular sleeves. My daughter would, too. The posters sat here all over the house until I started my purging. The sleeves could hide in all the back corners in closets without even a peep out of them. I put the word out about giving them away; I had a surprisingly large amount of takers, so I didn't have to donate them to Goodwill. And these were from only movies from 2000 and on. Who knew they'd be popular, I didn't!

I hope I don't find anymore in the dark reaches inside the house.

Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

I like the casual, breezy but personalized feeling that framed movie posters and stills give to a room, esp. if they have special meaning for the homeowner.

Let's see-- I have my framed vintage art deco travel poster, but that's not a movie one.  I've decorated with vintage movie stills.  When we got married, hubby brought his one of Audrey Hepburn in "Sabrina".  I had a black and white print of the famous photo (by Joshua Greene, I think?) of Marilyn Monroe in a filmy white tutu-like skirt, leaning toward the camera, looking poignant and a bit ethereal.  We've had them hung at different times, but not currently.

i'd love to have movie posters-- they'd have to be vintage.  Would love something featuring Fred Astaire or Greta Garbo....

Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

I don't use movie posters but they're reasonably nicely done in both of these spaces. I'm not sure I'd pick western themed movie posters for the bedroom, but whatever turns one on...

Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

An HBO show on Debbie Reynolds and her daughter, showed the son's home and he had a lot of DR posters of the movies she was in and I could be wrong but his sister's Star Wars posters were there too.  When they are in frames, they are a type of a work of art.  I thing the dining room ones, first picture was very pretty.  @lolakimono

Re: Decorating with (Movie) Posters

I would have put a full size poster of Gone With The Wind in our bedroom if I had ever come across one.  They were beautiful and that is my all time fav movie.  That room is deep red and cream.

This is my fav poster.
