 I think the occasional Ghost Chair is nice as you don't really see them but they can come in handy for extra seating or at a desk. Beyond that, unless you keep everything perfect (as you can see through Lucite) and dust free...it's a no-go for me.

I think it will always have a place.  

For me, my favorite uses are as storage.  Found a set of lucite drawers at the Container Store for makeup. (The pic shows jewelry but it's great for makeup.  I got the smaller one.) 

I'm now looking at another piece with two shelves for vitamins and supplements for the kitchen counter.
