Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Decluttering here has pretty much come to a screeching halt. I actually don't feel like I have a lot to go thru right now but there are a couple of things I want to look at, a tote with tops in it, some keepsakes. Mostly it's my hubby's things that I can't do anything about that are driving me nutso. .

We have given a couple of small things to our son.

I had hubby go thru a small pile of papers and filed a few, shredded a few.

My younger son recycled a couple of boxes from his room.

It's mostly just been everyday trash going out here. Hopefully I'll have something more to post soon.

Isn't it a good feeling to look around and be pleased with our decluttering efforts?

I thought I was there, but yesterday while my husband was playing golf, I paid bills online. He usually likes to file the credit card statements/utility bills, but since he wasn't home, I decided to get it done. I see that those files are in need of purging again.

But that chore can wait. I have 200 name cards to calligraphy for my niece's upcoming wedding. Priorities!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Gathered up a few nonstick pans that have scarcely been used along with few lovely items of clothing that no longer fit and took to Savers.  Today I went through vanity to try to make room but only tossed a tanning lotion, a few polishes as well as few lip glosses.  Also tossed a pillow and a bottle of carpet cleaner that was tucked in cabinet for years.  Minimal progress. 😔

@magicmoodz - I am only somewhat pleased because there is a lot that I would like to get rid of that hubby won't part with including a piano, a guitar and a whole box of old DVD's. There's more, those are just a few examples. It drives me nutso having all of this stuff sitting around not getting used. He figures it can sit here because it's not hurting anything but it makes the house look cluttered and it's just more to clean, fight around, etc. I'm trying to be patient because I want to move and downsize in a few years and there is no way all this c**p is going with us.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Hubby spent a couple more hours yesterday working on cleaning and organizing his barn. I was out there with him for about an hour. He didn't fill the trash can as full as the last time I worked with him, but a few things did get tossed. I'll take anything I can get. SO much stuff! That wil probably be the last time it gets cleaned until next spring now.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Hi Everyone, haven't been posting for quite some time. I am so happy to see this thread still thriving and all of the progress being made.  I have been decluttering off and on, far to much to mention, but generally, furniture, clothing, knicknacks, stainless steel cups, etc etc. I am also going through paperwork slowly as I am trying to get organized. That doesn't mean I haven't been adding but at least I am keeping it going.

Lately it feels like I need or want just about everything. A refresh of sorts. I have indulged a little bit but would really like to pull it back the best I can. I really don't want to add mindlessly except the things I really need or even want but not haphazardly.  I am great at haphazard.

Going into Fall and Winter, I will focus on decluttering a bit more and/or at the very least get organized. I feel that is the worse part.

This thread is always inspiring. Although, I am not caught up, love really all of your progress.

I hope you all had a nice holiday.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@aprilskies - How nice to hear from you again! Are you all settled into your new place now? I can imagine wanting a refresh and new things, it's always nice to get new things for a new place.

I know that when we downsize in a few years I'm not going to want to take a lot of stuff with us if we don't have to  because we've been using it for years, some of it is pretty worn and I will want new stuff for our new place. Especially furniture items. Plus then I won't have to move it!

I know that you are busy but if you get time, pop in and let us know how you are doing!
