Yes, I struggle with gifts. Thankfully I don't get many anymore. My best friend and I don't exchange anymore, although she did buy some Christmas gifts for my pets and I felt guilty because I hadn't done the same for hers.
But I do have one throw that a dear friend crocheted for me after my husband died. It was a lovely thought, but I just don't like it. First of all, like you, I have too many throws already that I do like. And second, the yarn is scratchy. I leave it in a tote I have out that has my overflow throws in it, so it's displayed but not used. If she never came over again, I'd donate it in a second.

My older son did a bit of organizing in his room the other day which was nice to see. I'm not sure what all he got rid of but I did see him tossing a few things and he asked me about two shoe/boot boxes to see if I wanted them, which I didn't, so those went into recycling. That freed up a bit of space in his room.
I emptied all the trash cans for trash day yesterday and noticed he had a couple other things tossed so I am glad to see him cleaning up a bit. It was getting cluttered and dirty. I don't spend much time in his room but it did look neater when I just glanced around.
Hubby tossed a pair of undies and a travel cup.

@chessielady wrote:@rnmom Hair?? That is just Chessie glitter! I have had 5 Chessies at a time....once! But always at least two.I have one now that is a heavy coated one and the other one has what we call a "horse" coat not as many curls and a smother coat.
I used to show Cardigan Welsh Corgis....now that was way more hair. But that is why we have Hoovers!
I think that these two Brillo butts will be my last. I just do not think that I have any more puppy raising energy left!
How is Tucker doing? I have a fond place in my heart for standard poodles!
@chessielady - I cannot imagine 5 Chessies, we had 2 and that was enough hair for me. I don't know what type of coat they had though. Tucker is doing better, thanks for asking! He was a year old at Christmas so he's still got a lot of puppy energy but he does pretty good all day home alone with me while I work. Thank goodness hubby takes him out every nigh when he gets home.
He still tinkles when he gets excited sometimes and eats/gets into things that he shouldn't so I have to keep an eye on him at all times. That gets tiring. I hope he outgrows that soon. But overall he's sweet and fun to pet/cuddle. It's nice having a dog that doesn't send hair flying every time I touch him. Hubby is happy having a sidekick again, that's why we got him, so that's good.

Early morning quick purges:
Added 3 more little book of quotes to my pending library drop off..4 total.
Added another bracelet to my consignment bag (for Wed)
Tossed out a corny looking sun visor from Hawaii, I have NO idea where I ever got this, never been to Hawaii, nor do I know anyone who has and brought me back this? Sometimes used to pop it on when I needed the sun out of my eyes while gardening. I have a much nicer looking white Nike one, and that's all I need. Plus, I wear my sun hats to garden. Come to think of it one friend went...like in 1998!! I'd say it's time to go!
Yesterday was looking through the trunk I have in walk-in attic type closet off my loft/office..."Mom & Grandparents" trunk (an attic closet is where this should live and it does...my grandpa painted it for my mom when she was born, it says "Baby" on top, so I love it)...anyhoo...found old taxes I had stored of mom's no longer needed, shredded. Will empty shredder today.
Shredded an old "gratitude journal" from 20 years ago.
Eyeballing some of mom's tops in there...I have two "keepers", favs of hers, that really are a visual reminder of her, that hang in my upstairs closet, but I know I don't need as many as I've kept. I have whittled them down over time...have about 7 total tops. Also kept a few of her favorite jackets that really remind me of her, and her "galivanting with me" days, always in a pretty jacket, ready to GO! They're tucked into the trunk so I don't mind.
I would like to know what to do with her Persian Lamb jacket that takes up space in that same closet upstairs...any ideas?
That's it for now.
Big project on my mind is tearing open my front coat closet which has deep storage in the back....not. in. the. mood...yet....Not even sure there will be much to purge, but I'd like to organize it better and know what's in it. Maybe when I'm spring cleaning.
Happy Monday y'all.

Does anyone else struggle with gift items?
Nope! - I just re-gift them.
Making sure I keep up with "who-gave-what" is the issue for me ![]()

Hi Ladies! I have fallen behind in reading and responding on our thread. It was such a shot in the arm to catch up reading this morning and has given me inspiration.
For example @gidgetgh like you, I don't have a lot of "setty around stuff".😄 But sitting here I am looking at my built-in bookcase and thinking ugh! It has 7 shelves of varying heights and goes all the way up to the ceiling. I now want to revamp what I have on it and how to display those items. Ironically there are only a handful of books I keep out. Well, not a job for today. We'd have to borrow a ladder from maintenance.
But I will share with you my decluttering dilemma. With the price of gold continuing to climb, I have been toying with the idea of selling some jewelry--both gold and silver.
But the struggle is real. I got all my silver jewelry out last night and polished each piece, having a terrible time deciding what to keep and what to part with.
This should not be so difficult. I'm not sure if I have posted on this thread, but several years ago we were the victims of a home burglary. All of my jewelry and the jewelry I inherited from my mom, dad, maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents was stolen. Just thinking about it is like getting a gut-punch and makes me sick to my stomach.
The thing is, I am not even really attached to my current stuff. I did have some custom pieces made with the insurance money, but even those have lost my interest. I guess I'm just afraid after I do get rid of pieces I will regret it. Kind of silly because I currently wear only a few pieces of gold jewelry--the same pieces every single day.
Are you bored yet? Have you fallen asleep? Haha! I will close by saying you all are doing such a good job of living with less! Doesn't it feel good?

Yesterday: Under the sink in my bathroom.
This morning: cleaned out and reorganized the kitchen drawers. I moved 2 knife blocks to better places, and have a box full of of good knives for the Salvation Army. I also cleaned and moved things around in the little espresso bar in the kitchen next to the oven.
I don't know how I did all this. More reorganizing than purging (except the knives) which is making me happy that I've done so much purging that now just organizing and a little tossing turns out to be so helpful!
Keep on and we're getting there together!

Hi all,
Added a pair of earrings to tomorrow's consignment drop-off. That makes 4 jewelry items. (I think one bracelet might be a bust for them, but if so, I'll either donate or bring to my other consignment.)
Threw out an old pair of gloves. One of them had fallen into a parking lot, retreived but wrecked beyond repair...they were a favorite, but have had them several years, so, bye! Rip.
As soon as I venture out into the cold, windy outdoors and up to my storage to retreive the doll I want to send to Goodwill, I'll be dropping that off. I saw they're selling for about $60 on Ebay...can't be bothered. Meanwhile trying to add more. Added a spare flashlight to GW bag.
That's it for now! Keep on keepin' on everyone.
ps. I'm also eyeballing a pair of Birkenstocks, hardly ever worn, had for years, (I have 5 other pairs I always wear, I like more), and a high heeled pair of sandals with a wrap around ankle tie, that aren't my favs or that easy/comfortable. Can't consign them now, they're not taking summer yet. Pretty sure I won't change my mind...they will be going. Have plenty others to wear in their place.

I cleaned our carpets today. I'll count that as decluttering.
A distant relative posted that she purchased a thrift store item (I think a jacket) and found a little book with passwords listed. Her assumption was the person passed away, and the family cleaned closets without going through the pockets. She ended up shredding it because some passwords were for places no longer in business, so it was pretty old. Still, there were things that could have caused potential problems if they landed in the wrong hands.
