Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I tossed a Liz Claiborne crossbody, that the leather was peeling.  Maybe it was faux leather.  It was navy, and I loved it.  When I needed a small bag, this was mostly my go to.  Used it probably on and off for 15 years.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Time to start panic cleaning at our house. Everyone is arriving Wednesday.

So I was cleaning a bowl on the counter. I would throw extra packets of ketchup, sauces, honey, dressings. etc they had long overgrown the bowl and spilled out to other bowls and I also start another bowl on the kitchen table.

Well once I started I found duplicate items on the counter and stuff I was not using. I threw two bags of "stuff".  I just kept going.

So now I have a clean counter and kitchen table. So I can fill them up again on Wednesday. When I have to start feeding the guests.

At least they were clean for 2 days.

Your Sunday morning final update on the Christmas ornaments I'd taken to consignment.

The owner had divided them into 7 lots.  She put them on her online site.  Then she showed them during a Facebook live video.

3 lots sold from the video, a few hours after she did it.

1 lot sold after that.

She showed them again yesterday and 2 lots sold during the video.

That leaves 1 lot of 2 ornaments. I knew they would be difficult to sell.  They are both shaped like eggs and one is dated so that's difficult.

She texted me yesterday afternoon that I can come pick up the final lot.  She leaves her videos up for 2 days so since they're closed on Sundays, I'll go down there tomorrow. Who knows, maybe someone will see the video and buy the last lot today.

Bittersweet on this one.  So thrilled and thankful for her efforts to sell them for me.   It also is a little emotional as that chapter of my life has closed and while they are so pretty I just don't need them anymore and don't want to just hang on to them.  I was in her store a few days ago and stopped the employee who had done all the photography on them and had done a short preview video to put on Facebook. I thanked her for her help showcasing them.

we need to know that something has served it's purpose  and needs to be given away
I try to donate/give away as much as I can

Wish I had read your posts about 5 years ago Woman Happy

I do not know of any consignment shops in my area.  So I guess I couldn't have taken my ornaments to a consignment shop anyway.

Several years ago we down sized our 7 foot Christmas tree to a smaller one.

I had bought quite a few Christopher Radko ornaments. And they were too big for the down sized tree. So I donated them.

They had sturdy boxes but after I saw how the Thrift store people handled them, I wondered if they would continue to be in one piece. The dumpsters at the thrift store were filled to overflowing and I just imagined my donation would end up in there too.

The thrift store is to help homeless. But I am not sure my donation was any help.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@drizzellla - Maybe once all your guests are gone you can clean up again and keep the bowls off the kitchen counter and table. It may be messy for the holiday but it doesn't have to stay that way. Do you have somewhere else you can store those things going forward?

We usually keep our extra packets of condiments in a small sandwich size bag in the door of our fridge. Once it gets too full and starts spilling out then that means it's time for me to pitch some of the old stuff.

That is what I did. I threw out 90% of the packets. It will take no time before I have a ready supply again.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Hi ladies! I just wanted to stop by to wish you all a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.

Our holiday is going to be quiet this year. My husband's brother and his wife always host as they have the largest home. She had back surgery the beginning of the month, but still thought she could host until we talked her out of it. As it turns out she is in no shape to host a big gathering.

Saturday night I began feeling unwell and I have been down for the count ever since. I hope by tomorrow I feel a bit better.

No big dinner planned. He will cook steaks and hopefully I will be up to roasting tri-color carrots and brocollini. I bought all the  ingredients to make Keto Pumpkin Spice Latte drinks, but just in case he bought a Pumpkin Pie at Trader Joe's yesterday.😀

Whatever your plans, wishing you a wonderful day!
