Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Yesterday hubby tossed an old pair of long johns and set aside a shirt to donate that is too big.

We gave our son a few small things from the barn and we gave him and his girlfriend some groceries/household items.

Set aside to donate some corn on the cob skewers, I may just toss those.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I set aside to donate a decorative mirror from our downstairs bathroom. It was too heavy on one side and always tilted to the left. I was tired of fussing with it, so I took it down. But now there is a hole in the wall and some scratches in the paint and I'm not sure if I have the right color paint to touch up the wall so I might see if I  have something else to put on the wall to cover it up for now.

I tossed a mini nail polish that I didn't care for the color.

Hi folks....I just have NOT been in decluttering mode lately. AND I've brought more clothing/accessories into the home all summer as I shopped my usual sales, used birthday coupons etc. Nothing overdone, imo, just some seasonal refresh and bargain shopping. But...I should let go of more as I do that. ...I guess.

I've been enjoying what I have, not feeling my home is messy or cluttered, but I do know I also hold onto a lot. I enjoy most of it, but deffinitely can stand to go through something again!

It's been a busy summer, and it flew Cue the Smiley Sad(( for me!

There will be plenty of cooler weather, indoor days to sort through my life again to see if there's more to declutter.

I do remember, once consignment starts taking Christmas, I have an ornament tree in storage, big box, I don't plan on using again....I get second thoughts, because it's pretty...bought it on LR's website, the year I sold mom's home and wanted something to display some vintage ornaments from my childhood, I took home. I did that once. Since then those just go on my regular tree. Am I vascilating on that dang tree again?! ....hm.

I think it's safe to say, I've been more into "hold onto" and "enjoy" and even buy new stuff mode than decluttering....

Do I need help?! Haha. Seriously, my house IS in order.

Anyhoo....just thought I'd pop in to say hi, and "share my truth." Lol. 😂 But really, I figure why not share ALL sides of this process...I imagine many of us go through these phases at times too.

Hope all are well. I've still been reading all of your progress.

@amyb - I'm glad that you have been enjoying summer, I too, am so sad to see it go. We don't have a lot of nice weather where I am and it always goes by so fast.

I haven't been doing a ot of decluttering either and it doesn't appear as though too many others have either so you are not alone!

It's nice that you dropped in to let us all know what you have been doing. Enjoy these nice days, I'm sure we will all be back at it soon!

@rnmom @amyb

I'm right there with you ladies. I have pretty much pumped the brakes on decluttering for now.

I did however pack up 3 pair of dress shoes that I seem to have outgrown!😱 I bought 2 pair of shoes last week--neither of which are dressy suitable for a wedding, so I think I must do a little more shopping this week.

Not to be outdone and it seems when I buy something my husband feels as if he needs something too. He did buy a new pair of shoes and has packed up 2 pair to be donated. He really does live by the rule of in with 1 out with 2, but sometimes struggles with getting rid of items in perfectly good condition. He's kind of like a woman. Haha!

Now my latest dilemma is what to do about my handbag collection. I must be getting wimpier, because they seem to be so heavy these days.😥 I am torn between biting the bullet, packing them up and delivering them to charity or...or what? Having them take up space in my closet and my head?

Still to be determined.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

My brother in law stopped by Sunday to pick up some extra garden veggies that we had and I gave him my son's cactus that he left here. He didn't want it and I didn't want it but I didn't want to toss a perfectly good plant. So my brother in law took it and will give it a good home. That made me  happy.

Ok...maybe I'm starting some baby steps...if not full out decluttering yet...definitely seasonal inventory, switch out, organizing, cleaning...

Little upkeep things...cleaning out fridge this morning, recycling some flyers, boxes etc.

Yesterday, finally went through all the slips on my desk that accumulated over the busy summer...some back to May! Yikes, this summer did fly and I was not tuned into desk/papers as regularly, apparently! Checked against accounts & shredded.

I did just toss an old summer pj bottom, that came from an old set, that I already had tossed the top of earlier this year...Ioved them, but have newer ones and they were just finally faded enough for me to feel schlumpy in them...didn't need them anymore. Got my money's worth, that's for sure! Eyeballing another pair I never reach for anymore but always loved, they keep making the cut but should be tossed....they make the cut because I just never find any in the nice, lightweight cotton these were...but they're just not as comfy anymore. I need to let go! Lol....

I have started to not full out swap my closets from summer to fall yet...I don't do that until summer is officially over end of September ...but I've started to transition and pack away clothing I'm done wearing for now.

In my head I need to do my usual "check my jeans" inventory...see what I still like, what I need etc.

That's it for now~Have a nice day, peeps.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I havent been posting for awhile.  With my broken wrist issues and a chest wall cyst removal with bleeding issues and my poor old aching back, I have been reading forums but limiting my typing.

Time to start switching seasonal clothes and hope  to have lots to purge.  Last couple months I have purged:

   Allergy bed cover

   3 expired medicines

Many files and papers from my file cabinet

   3 books

   3 Sweaters

   9 pair shoes

   22 tops

   3 purses

   8 pants

@KathyM23 - That's a pretty good list for someone who has had the issues you have had. Awesome!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I set aside to donate a decorative wall paint roller kit. It's basically just a divided roller pan and a divided textured roller that you use to blend 2 colors of paint together at the same time. I bought it to do one wall in our old house which we moved into in 2000 and it did a nice job, and was cute, but I haven't used it since so I guess it's time to let it go. The box it is in takes up a decent amount of space and I can't see myself using it anytime soon.
