Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

[ Edited ]

I have a shopping bag filled with random "treasures" ready to take to Goodwill. They'll go today, if I can convince myself to leave the house.  Rain overnight and gloomy this morning with temps dropping all day into the low 30's. I'm not known for willingly going out in the cold gloom.

I have 4 summer tops, still new with tags, ready to go to consignment. My consignment store takes off season all year but she stores the off season till it's time to put the things out so I had just held on to these. She announced the other day that next Monday, they're going to start to put spring out so I will take them in then so that they'll be put out on the racks and not stored. I also have 2 brand new kitchen tools to take- spatula and mini tongs, both by OXO. I bought them on Saturday when I stopped at the Container Store. Got them home and gee, I already had the mini tongs and I decided I don't need the spatula. Too lazy to drive the 15 miles to the Container Store, so off to consignment they go.  They still have the wrappings on them.  I put them in a Ziploc bag and I'm sure she will sell them as a 2 piece thing.

I threw out 5 pairs of black and 2 pairs of navy  J Jill leggings that I thought were too faded for Goodwill.  2 other pairs are going to Goodwill.  But, fear not, the J Jill Pima cotton leggings are what I wear just about every single day so I replaced those with new pairs I had ready to go.  So, I basically parted with all of the old and am starting the year with all new.  If you have never tried them, the J Jill Pima cotton ankle leggings are the best leggings.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

This morning I put a pair of Vionic slippers in the donate pile.  Have never worn them.  Should have returned them but never did.  Thought "Oh I can make these work."  Yeah, no, that never happens.  Tried them on again this morning on my "good" foot - meaning the non-surgical knee/foot - and they just didn't feel secure.  Felt too loose.  Also, didn't feel like there was any arch support in them and I thought Vionic is supposed to have arch support in their slippers.  In the donate pile they went.

I tossed 2 older decks of cards and a plastic cup that used to go with an old waffle maker we had. Hubby is taking a bunch of extra dice to school for games.

He also decided yesterday to go thru a drawer he has in our large headboard and also another cupboard that he has full of stuff in a hutch in our dining room. He gave me 3 new watchbands from a watch he no longer has that I will donate. Nothing else went to donate and I have no idea what he tossed but I am happy to see that there is a bit more space. Like all his spaces they were getting really stuffed, especially the drawer in the bedroom.

I don't know what got into him but I sure was glad to see it. Any little bit counts.

Great idea to start the new year with new leggings. I've never owned J Jill leggings but will have to take a look.

@magicmoodz - they're really good. The only leggings I wear.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Today I decluttered two things - RMS Beauty eyebrow pencil in medium.  Since this was an extra that was still in it's box and never used, I am able to put it in my beauty donation box that I will eventually send to Project Beauty Share.  I had to toss the RMS Beauty eyebrow powder in medium because it had been used.  This shade just did not work for me and I wasn't willing to try the other two.  Went back to using my tried and true and trusted Benefit brow pencil #3.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Today I started on the kitchen cabinets. Tossed one plastic bowl missing it's lid, and tossed a bunch of plastic lids missing their bowls, lol, what's up with that??? Then in another cabinet where I keep manuals and cook books, I went through a stack of loose recipes, threw out several that I will never make, and cataloged the rest into 3-ring binders. It's a good start, but so much left to go.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Brought over from 2024 I posted there by mistake yesterday.. (thanks @gidgetgh )

Purged an inexpensive 10" ceramic pan, T-Fal from Marshall's...I think you get what you pay for in these...wasn't a good "non-stick" other than the first two times I used it. Oils stained and stuck to it to the point I couldn't get off the stains from the last thing I made in there. Roasted chestnuts! The olive oil cooked into the pan with that one for whatever reason?! Then I noticed the ceramic coating coming off in places, from my trying to scrub it clean previously. Yikes, I sure hope I didn't ingest any of it!! Last year I purged all old, scratched, traditional non-stick pans I had but kept a few brand new ones. Using stainless steel more these days and these two ceramic T-Fal pans I got. The small one is still fine.

Anyhoo..would like to at some point invest in Caraway...at least one pan, the size I just tossed. BF has a set and they work beautifully. Expensive but excellent performance and quality. I don't need a set, but may buy one useful 10" pan.

Did more electronic purging.

Been using up and cooking with what I have in fridge, freezer. Finally, used up everything made, over both holidays, froze some. In the process found more old stuff to toss from fridge.

Today was a food prep kind of day, and some other things, but tomorrow I want to do some organizing and packing up of holiday/seasonal stuff, and maybe some papers. We'll seeeee.......

Nite all. Smiley Happy

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

While putting away Christmas dishes, I did a bit of organizing and pulled many "take home" containers that I reuse to send home with kids, etc.  Those without proper lids got pitched.....unfortunately this morning I realized I could have used some of those lids for plant saucer.  Dug into trash and pulled 4 for that use.  Small steps again!
