Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

[ Edited ]

Holy Moly @amyb! When the mood hits, strike while the iron's hot and that is exactly what you did. Great job on purging so much!

Ok ladies. I don't usually lament any of my decluttering efforts. I am not all that attached to my belongings and once I decide to let something go, I'm good.

You might recall last year I answered an "ASK" on my local Nextdoor to a young couple looking for a Christmas tree. They had a 2-year old, were pregnant with another and had their house on the market. Lots on their plate!

I must have felt magnanimous at the time because I quickly told my husband what I wanted to do and soon we were delivering our tree to them.

Fast forward to this year and I feel myself longing to have a Christmas tree. When I mentioned it to him, well, he was not very amenable.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Haha!🎄

@gidgetgh

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better.   It's rough when illness lasts for months on end.

As for your ornaments, I'm not familiar with that artist, but if you are on social media, would there be a collectors group for high end Christmas ornaments?  I know you're in a large metro area, so there may be someone or something nearby that would be interested.

STACKS of wash cloths we don't like, stained kitchen towels, and miscellaneous bathroom stuff.

They went OUT!  Glad to be rid of them, kept enough for cleaning cloths, but these needed to go!  A long time coming!

I just threw them away.  Too ugly to donate, and don't have the wherewithall to call around and see if anyone else wants them or deal with it.  I am old and need to let some of this stuff just GO.

@rnmom - thank you. It was a very difficult summer and fall, well, since the end of March really, and I was very concerned that maybe it wasn't in the cards for me to get better, but I'm feeling so much better now.  Not 100% but getting there.

@gidgetgh - I am very glad to hear that!

Yay...we're on our 100th page here!

Made the appt. yesterday for consignment this week...the "fussy one" (I KNOW how many times do I say, "done bringing them clothing!!"...lol and after this week's appt. I'll likely say it again and not mean it!)

But I'm going there anyway, because they ARE the best place to bring homegoods, jewelry, holiday, as they are a "for profit" "boutique" style consignment store vs. my other one that's non-profit, not merchandised as nice, no promotion online of items. This one markets & merchandises much better & has a very active clientele.

They also told me I have a $26 balance in my account, whohoo, lol...so I'll pick that up when I go. Or what they hope is I'll spend it there....it is tempting sometimes, but I've only done that a few times and they were gifts for someone. Appt. is this Wed.

In the meantime, I'm getting items washed and prepped for either consigment or donation. Will drop off donation to the church this week too.

I will really LOOK OVER that J Crew jacket...which mind you I only ever wore a few times, (I just had several others I'd alternate through, this got only occasional wear.) It's a classic style & cool looking jacket...just bulkier and more cropped than I want now.

I'll make sure the lining is ok, and the nice brushed cotton does attract lint so I'll roll it. But here's how they are....I noticed the small tag at the neck doesn't look as "white" as when you get it...mind you...it's just a little off white, but CLEAN. THEY often will deny something thinking that's "yellowed" like from sweat. So, I'll maybe just wash that dang tag. Seriously, I'm glutten for punishment. Was tempted to just pull the tag out, but it has washing & material instructions on it, so I won't.

There's another fashion sweater that made the cut the last two purges, from at least 12 years ago, I think I might have worn once or twice in 5 years. Cute, BCBG, blk/white knit, little cropped swing sweater with a hood. I don't need it. Deciding.

I AM in the mood to move forward, update things...and though prices are high, quality is less than it use to be at certain price points, and some of these things are still nice....IF I'm over it, not really reaching for it etc...I'm ready to move on.

My Consignment Process November 2025~The Novel~TBC. Smiley Happy

Have a nice Saturday, peeps. Carry on.

Oh yes, ps. today I'm digging out that ornament tree too, when I go put some more deck stuff up in storage.

A mini update on my Christmas ornaments.

The consignment store has added them to my account and when I look at my account online They are in the process of adding pictures which usually means that they'll also be offering them online, which is good. Hopefully if she does a Facebook live some time this weekend, she'll show them. Fingers crossed.

edited to add: they are all online now and she has posted a really short mini video featuring them on their Facebook page.

I try to only list things I won't be replacing. Today it was a queen size sheet set and pillowcases. Also, two pillows that were past their prime. Finally, a pair of ratty slacks I wore all summer when working in the yard.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Another update on "the ornaments".

The consignment owner featured them during a Facebook live video early this afternoon. She grouped them into 7 lots.  No one claimed any during the video. 🥲. I was already making plans to text and thank her for trying and that I'd come pick them up.

But in the last half hour, 3 of the lots have sold. I am thrilled. I don't know for sure of course, but based on that my guess is that she will show them one more time in an upcoming Facebook live.

I set aside to donate a pair of lounge pants and a brand new insulated tumbler.
