Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

[ Edited ]

To @BunSnoop (more on those cassettes, if you haven't already done something with them)...

I just happened to be watching this morning, on YouTube...this guy from my state of CT who goes around to flea markets, and videos what he buys, and looks at etc...him and his mom, called "Fleabitten Adventures." He was a kid in the 80's. Today he picked up some cassettes and said that, though he realizes things sound better on CD, cassettes are "nostalgic" to him from his childhood, so he actually likes to still listen to them. So, I guess what I had said, that there's always someone poking around Goodwill and these flea markets, who just might still be interested in these...had some truth!

I also guess it's true what they say about "One man's junk is another man's treasure."

The George Foreman grille that was put up on a high shelf about 7 years ago and never taken down.

I gave it a good scrub, taped the drip pan to the inside and off to the church thrift shop it went along with an old wall clock and angel food cake pan.

4 pair of jeans, ready to donate. Oh, also the Firestick TV antennae thing and the CarMD thing that I mentioned earlier. I checked with the tech savviest person I know and was told that no personal info is stored within either, so they are ready to go also, that will be tomorrow, along with recycling.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Every time I think I have gone thru and purged all the clothes I can during my semi annual exchange from season to season, I end up finding more after I thought I was finally done for this season but of course I have found more listed below.  This is the second bunch I found since I thought I was done.  The first bunch I posted a couple weeks ago.

I know I have purged alot over the years because I now have 3 empty large containers and 3 empty drawers that I have used for storage of off-season clothes.  But drat it all, I still have my accessable closets and dressers much fuller than they should be.

This past two weeks I have purged some to consignment or to donate:  15 tops, 8 scarves, 8 pants, 4 shirts, 3 shrugs and 3 shoes.  Maybe that will finally be it for clothes for awhile.

In addition I purged 2 wrist braces (I now wish I had kept the small one) and 4 decorative items.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I did get my donations dropped off on Saturday so that was nice. I had kept out the two small toiletry type bags to see if my son wanted them. He stopped by for just a minute yesterday and I asked him about them, he doesn't want them. So I have a new donate pile started already.

We gave my son's girlfriend a top that hubby got as a prize from school that no one here wanted.

I set aside to donate an activity tracker that we had gotten at Aldi for my boys for their Easter baskets a couple of years ago. I was going to try to use it but noticed that when I wore it on my wrist that if I moved my arms too much (it was a watch type) that it registered steps even when I wasn't moving. Like when I was drying my hair. So that wasn't going to work.

I got my hubby to go thru his childhood games that he brought home maybe about 5 years ago. Only one has been used since he brought them home. He kept that one and I actually wanted to keep one other one. He set aside 5 to take to his classroom and we will donate 2.

I tossed a pair of garden gloves that got a hole in the finger. I have many pair here to replace them with.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

New here. Very excited for all the purging my husband and I have done since January. We have recently painted inside our home. Threw out the faux foliage it's so hard to clean. Donating a lot of wall decorations, probably in the range of 15 -20 pieces. I have 3 bags of clothes to donate.
Last couple of yrs we donated a couch & loveseat set to a woman and her kids that had nothing. She left a abusive marriage, they were homeless and in a shelter. They just got into a apartment. I donated 40 Marie Osmond dolls to friends, office employees at my doctor's office. Also gifted a set of Dept 56 to a family member. It feels so good to purge and bless others at the same time.

@Grand Happy   Welcome!  You have purged a lot.  Lots of great posters here.  Happy, kind, helpful.  We are encouraged reading others purging too.
