Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

12 Pairs of Shoes:

I have LOTS of shoes.  Decided to go through them today.  Many were dress shoes from when I worked in the office.  I've been retired now for almost 2 years and before that I worked from home for several years so these shoes have not been worn in many years.  Also, unfortunately, my feet have gotten larger over the years.  Size 9 no longer works for me.  I need now either a 9 1/2 or 10.  All of the shoes were stored nicely in shoe boxes.  A few pairs were never even worn.  Put them all in bags to have a charity pick-up.

2 pairs of Denim & Company Pants:

Just did not care anymore for the style (wider legs - I now prefer a slimmer leg). Also, not sure why, but I had purchased these both a size larger than I typically do for Denim & Company  - they look too large and sloppy.  Put them in the charity bag.

I'm very happy that I finally went through and sorted all of my shoes.  Now I know what I have and I also know for sure that I do not need to purchase any more!!!!   I need to use what I have!

Well it took all of 2 minutes.  I emptied my file cabinet with all the handouts I collected from professional conferences in the past 30 or so years.  It only took me 2 minutes b/c I didn't even look through the handouts, I just threw them out.  It has been ions since I looked at any of that stuff and probably never will so out it went. Now I can donate the file cabinet as I don't need it for anything else.

I have a box full of books, a trash bag of toys, a trash bag of clothes, a butterfly chair DD no longer wants, a child's rocking chair, a rocking horse and miscellaneous stuff all ready to go to Goodwill.   Next weekend I plan to get a pedicure and Goodwill is right near the nail salon.  I don't know if I will be able to fit everything in my car but I get a pedicure every month so it will all eventually go.

Wowza...you may have to go shopping for a smaller home!

Ha, just teasing you, as you've done a LOT!

As someone else said here, and it's so true...you do have to strike while the iron is hot! I know I've been "in that mood" lately and when I am I'm less "attached" to stuff, and  thinking things out, and just wanting stuff gone. Suddenly I'm looking at old stuff with new eyes and it looks stale. Also I've been "digging deep" as I said earlier to long "stored away" things and sometimes once you unearth that kind of stuff, it's easy to see its irrelevance to your current life.

Good job~enjoy that pedicure! I'm overdue on that, and need to get one, but I need to get an overdue (tiny) piece of glass taken out of my foot first...sigh...but I digress.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Organized three deep shelves in the linen closet. One holds things that shouldn't be stored in a medicine cabinet because of the humidity. I tossed some expired covid test kits, and stuff I won't be needing.

My husband gave me a weighted blanket for Christmas. Unfortunately, 20 pounds is far heavier than I can tolerate, and he didn't like it on the bed either. Too much time has passed, so I can't return it. I'm sure no shelter (animal or human) would want it, so I might throw it out on garbage day. I doubt my husband has given it a second thought, so I wouldn't be hurting his feelings.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Recycled a hunk of used file folders.  Discovered I had over 100 new file folders.  They were returned to shelf. Here I have always reused folders, erased titles, flipped them over, etc.  Hard to break habits.  Sorted out a hunk of nice but used folders that I need to drop off to teacher recycle shop along with some flash cards. Surely they can use.

Pulled nice fake fruit from my decorating shelves - donating to preschool teacher.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I tossed another mini nail polish that was half gone and thick and gloppy. I went thru the rest of my polishes and the rest seem good. I don't polish my nails often anymore but I only have about a dozen so I'm good with that.

I did some more pantry/fridge pruning and tossed 5 items along with the last crate of potatoes from our garden last year. I also donated 8 items to a local food pantry that I volunteer at.

I found a large Christmas tin to donate, I think it had popcorn in it. I don't think I will use it.

Tossed a tube of hydrocortisone ointment from the bahroom that I don't care for and 2 mascaras and a primer.

This morning's declutters...

A very old, big bottle of Sauve shampoo, with only one shampoo left in it...been in my shower since time immemorial.

An old "granny looking" faux patent ballet flat, I've had forever, only flats I own for those days I needed a flat "real shoe" to run around in, as opposed to a sneaker or sports shoe. So outdated, way past their prime, I can do better, bye!

Old dish towel

Went through last craft shelf, went through old artwork, projects, threw away 10 pieces that weren't keepers,  partial sketches, or a few done in college! Nothing important, and plenty of nice ones I kept. Note to self...maybe pick up the brush again....also note to self: no pressure on that!

Went through saved greeting cards box...oy...I have a huge stash, threw away maybe 12. Not even a dent. That box, that also holds blank cards I send, as well, stationary too...is FULL. NO ONE can send me another card! Because I DON'T want to start another box! I may have to transfer some to digital at some point. NOT TODAY. (Like THAT'S a project worth my time lately, lol) I will say...between bf, and 2 best friends who send the most unusual, beautiful cards with wonderful notes that tell our history together, and some relatives no longer here (not to mention the shoe box of just mom's cards and letters)...they are keepsakes. Like vs. just every Hallmark random card someone sends. Anyhoo...#sentimental.

Done for today.

** Update to today** Went through my greeting cards "to send", in that same box with the keepsake, received cards, and tossed several random envelopes, and 4 cards I won't ever send. That said...I better start writing to a lot of people, with all the cards and stationary I have!

I actually DO use what I have, and write things throughout the year, but I have a friend who's gifted me stationary/blank cards at least 3 times in the past 3 years. Very pretty ones...but they're adding up faster than I can use them!

* I do have a friend who writes personal notes all the time..I've shared stationary with her before, she loves getting them and tells me she's already used it all up a few months later! So if I can always share again with her.

Early in the day, but I'm about to run out on errands, so this may be all I do today...

Bagged up another full shredder's worth (I forget if that makes 3 or 4 this past week)...I think 3.

Tossed two old ratty workout items, a tank, and biker shorts.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Today I tossed an old container that I used for dry cat food and an empty box of cat litter.
