Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

[ Edited ]

Was away overnight, so nothing the last 2 days but

a few little things this morning..

Went through one bathroom drawer...tossed older Crest white strips (from a few years ago.)

They have BB dates on the box. Tossed the older of the two sets I had left.

I have another box with BB date of July 2024. These have gotten expensive, like double what they used to be, (that's still no reason to use them if you're not supposed to), but I'm going to Google info & see before tossing the other box. They might only just not be as effective past BB date. The ones I kept are only 5 months past. I obviously do NOT ever use these consistently enough to have them make a difference...I always wind up with way too many just sitting there past the dates!

Tossed old meds.

Found two body butters down to last bits.

I made note to use up the Ginger Souffle' Body Shop one...one of my favs! Forgot I still had some left...from 2 years ago...it's fine, and winter is when I like to use this. Philosophy Pure Grace~ consolidated what was left of the big jar into my small travel jar and tossed big jar.

Also did more email decluttering.

That's it for that drawer and for now.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Went through the laundry room, it has lots of cabinets, some of which were full of "stuff". Most of that "stuff" is now gone. Just a mish-mash of things, don't even know why some of it was ever kept, lol. Had 4 decorative bed pillows, 2 of which were very large, that I also grabbed to go. Anyway, all those little items from the laundry room, the bed pillows, and the items from the china cabinet filled the back seat of my car, and are now at the donations center. I'm really glad, as I had been dreading sorting through all that stuff
for some reason.
Happy purging, everyone!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I was cleaning the spare room today, took most things out of the closet and swept.  I decided to go thru a tote I had with Easter decor.  I donated several cute baskets and some grass and was able to down size the tote!!

I still have a few things and I also have 3 very nice felted bunnies that I purchased on Etsy, sadly the artist  I purchased from is not longer working.  I was so sad because she did beautiful work.

I had a KennyBunk throw that I have had for years and discovered a hole in it..I used it on the chair and a half in the living room, it did not get much use.  I don't feel I should donate it because of the hole so I will have to pitch it.

I have a large box ready to take to the donation center.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

After massive sit on my butt day yesterday...today i went thru double shelves in closet and two dresser drawers! Proud to say two large bags of clothing, jammies, leggings, tops, jeans  to take to Jjill.  Jjill donates to a ladies success place in Seattle to help women get back on feet. Im always happy to donate nice items there.  I counted 12 pair of leggings still on shelf! Hanging head!

I realized I have way too many jamies and work out stuff, not to mention jeans!

Hope everyone doing well!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Took down one tree today. We had an early family meal about two weeks before Thanksgiving. A niece mentioned wanting to see a Balsam Hill tree, so we set ours up early in the rec room for her to check out.

As we cleaned out that room, I filled a large garbage bag with a large wall picture, jingle bell tree, stuffed teddy bear and a Santa I had purchased at Kohls several years ago. Now all the downstairs decor fits in a large plastic storage box, and the Christmas tree ornaments fit in two wicker containers that I bought from QVC in the 1990's. I think they were designed as hampers; so cute and still look new (shaped like Victorian houses).

Hello all! I am so behind and do apologize for not hearting everyone's posts. I am amazed at how diligent many of you are in starting the new year in a decluttering state of mind!

I have continued to take on smaller projects--as in if it's not nailed down I have an urge to purge! And thank you @amyb for reminding me that decluttering includes our electronics. I have deleted 400 old emails in the last 2 days and plan to make it a daily chore until I have a more reasonable email account. Also need to do something with my online photos, but that job seems daunting right now.😐

I had some good karma happen that I want to share. Wednesday I went to Target to pick up some incidentals. When I got home I noticed my bracelet was missing. I became sick. This was a 14k gold bracelet my husband purchased for me years ago.

The sad thing is I really thought twice about wearing it that day. In retrospect, it is a little too big and can slip off my wrist and I knew I would be wearing gloves (on and off) but I wore it anyway.

That night my husband searched my car for it to no avail. I tried calling Target several times the next day to see if it had been turned in to lost and found, but the Guest Services phone just rang and rang. I guess they were busy with Christmas returns.

Finally, Friday morning I called very early, spoke to a kind associate who rummaged through lost and found and there it was! I was ecstatic!

I only wish I knew who the good samaritan was who turned it in, but I mentally wish that person all good things many times a day!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I went thru a couple of cupboards in the kitchen. One holds random items that I don't know where else to put like lightbulbs, paper plates, our vitamins, etc. It also holds our playing cards. I tossed 2 older decks of cards and a plastic cup that used to go with an old waffle maker we had. Hubby is taking a bunch of extra dice to school for games.

He also decided yesterday to go thru a drawer he has in our large headboard and also another cupboard that he has full of stuff in a hutch in our dining room. He gave me 3 new watchbands from a watch he no longer has that I will donate. Nothing else went to donate and I have no idea what he tossed but I am happy to see that there is a bit more space. Like all his spaces they were getting really stuffed, especially the drawer in the bedroom.

I don't know what got into him but I sure was glad to see it. Any little bit counts.
