Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Happy New Year!

I'm so happy to see this topic continuing for the new year.  I've been so inspired by everyone's work and progress!

I'm retiring in 3 weeks and I'm so excited to start a new phase in my life🥳.  My biggest challenge this year will be purging and reorganizing.

I used to keep up on those things, but the last couple of years have been very hectic. My house has gotten a little out of control and it's driving me crazy!

I'm looking forward to following this thread and cheering each other on!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Glad to see the 2025 Decluttering thread.  Thanks @rnmom for starting again this year.  I am constantly purging and enjoy the process and lightening up the amount of possessions.

There have been several suggestions/methods I have seen in this thread over the years. One I have adopted (can't remember who posted it) was to purge 27 items a week no matter how small.  Since I purge often it was too hard to come up with an extra 27 each week, so I elected to attempt to purge 20 a week.

During December 2024 I purged the following items, but didn't have time to post at the time with the Christmas undecorating, etc.

Jewelry - 7 necklaces   Decor - 4   Baskets/Totes - 3

Flashlight   Office Supplies - 6   Wrapping bags/paper - 10

Pantry items - 3   Socks -12 pair   Tops - 5  Purses - 3

Shoes - 3   Robe   Sweaters - 7   Pants - 3

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Happy New Year!🎉🎊🎉.  I'm also trying to reduce the inventory of my pantry, overstocks of paper goods.  All my pantry items are fresh, but sometimes overwhelming.  Going to start with two coat closets!  Overfilled, and wear the same coats each season.  Thank you @rnmom for always posting and starting the new thread in the new year.

@rnmom Thanks for keeping this thread going.  I took a break over Christmas and resumed by purging a box of Christmas ornaments I had for a tree I gifted.  I am on the east coast of Canada and I hear we are going to have a polar vortex so extremely cold weather.  May be a good time to hit the linen closets!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@4kitties - I don't blame you for issuing an ultimatum. It's so easy for someone to claim to want an item whether it be a sibling, a child, etc. but they don't want to actually take possession of said item. So obviously it doesn't mean that much to them. If it did, they would make time to come and get it. Good for you for holding them to that.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@jlkz - DH isn't what I would call a recreational shopper even though he does shop more than me. He's got a lot of stuff given to him this past summer by his mom as his dad passed away but we just don't need any of it. He got rid of a lot of it when it was first given to him but now it's time to make another pass at it.

That plus the regular purchases that occur over the course of a year and he just needs to weed some old stuff out.

@Snicks1 - I know that you have been busy these last couple of years since your DH passed. I'm glad that you are getting to a place where there isn't much to go. I hope to be there someday.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@magicmoodz - Thank you for your kind words. I love reading everyone's stories here. Plus it gives me ideas of things I need to look for around here. Like you mentioned, I need to toss my old mascara and primer next time I wear makeup and replace with new.
