Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

@Fifi1

I am actually making some headway with the second freezer.  Slowly using things up.  I should take a look tonight and take something out to defrost for dinner.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

I had a hosiery supply that has not been touched in years.  I only got rid of two pairs and three knee-highs.  I still find they may come in handy on rare occasions when I get dressed up.  Did find some sock liners and that I do need.

Cleaned out grands desk that I bought years back.  Don't need that much and it gets to be so cluttered.  Toying with selling... Need a bit more deliberation.  Took all coloring books, markers, etc. and sorted.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

@magicmoodz    We still have the what did you use up in the beauty forums. It's a weekly dated post.    My gosh, it helps me from buying more beauty.  I have enough shower gel, body lotion and perfume for a few years.  I am on a no buy except for anything that I totally run out of like mascara.  I need nothing!!!  Recently moved, and it was scary how much beauty I had.

@Fifi1  I organized the big stand alone freezer.  Really using up and rotating better.  I was never one to only have ingredients just for a week or two.  But keeping the freezer down a bit so things don't get lost in there!  I bet I could cook for three months.  Same with the pantry.  It's progress!

I'm hoping to get in a better purging mode with fall around the corner.  I like sunshine, but these high 80's and 90 days aren't fun for me.

@lynnie61

Your post and comments on numbers of beauty products could save another poster, esp those doing auto ship, a lot of money!  The huge bottles of philosophy last forever, and they take up so much room.  I felt so bad throwing a couple away when they did not smell right. Savings not made if going bad.  I am trying to avoid buying stuff at Bath&Body for that reason, lotions and candles.  They take up space!

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

Lots of clothes too big (many new) and books went to the Salvation Army yesterday.  Now I am more organizing to declutter than decluttering--both, but simply taking stock and putting together dishes sets, glasses, things that were scattered in a kitchen remodel, etc.

I am getting set up for a big attic purge when the weather gets cool.  We have a big floored attic.  Which is nice because you can store things, and terrible because you can store things. . . if you know what I mean! Woman Embarassed  So working hard in downstairs guest room this week and our bedroom--under the beds deep clean reworking power cords etc.

@Twins Mom  I haven't purchased much in the past 8 months.  Those 32 oz do last quite a while.  I'm the only one using it, but I get tired of the scent before it's gone, so I put in smaller bottles and rotate.  I think I am down to 3 or 4 large 32 oz.  - I have no AD, except Purity, which I have skipped the last two or three shipments.  I usually have 3 or 4 scents in my shower.  I do use them before going bad, but last year I bought several, and gifted them for the holidays when I realized just how much I bought.  No CIJ shower gel purchases at least this year!   I'm really trying to stick to my no buy pledge!  The weekly beauty post helps keep me in line.  I'm sure I'm not the only one.  🤣🤣

@amyb

Thank you for validating returning my purchases counts as "decluttering". A bit of a stretch, but I'll take it.😃

@nwbabs

Thank you for the chuckle. Your "tight blouse" story reminded me of an excerpt from this book.content.jpeg

Our former home had a very large floored attic. When my nieces were young, they loved it up there. With it's high vaulted roofline and big windows they used to say it was the coolest room in our house.

That looks like a cute book @magicmoodz. Thanks for sharing!

The best thing about getting stuck in that first blouse (two sizes too small) I was contemplating donating, all others that size went immediately in the donate pile!

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

[ Edited ]

Been working upstairs in bits and pieces this week.

Did more desk sorting, shredding.

Did some filing. Still going to do the financials pile.

Went through my shoeboxes and floor of my 1/2 closet up there. Always trying to do my shoes better in there. Threw out two boxes. Did buy a smaller hanging shoe shelving unit this summer fits 5 pairs, so I store sandals, sneakers, I'm wearing a lot this summer in that. Easier grab & go.

Was so glad to find that on LugLive, for a deal & free shipping, because usually those shoe shelving units are made full-size for full sized closets. This was just the right length for this 1/2 closet. I've yet to find a good shelving unit for this and my bedroom closet, so I can throw out boxes that sometimes topple, but I'm on the lookout. In the 1/2 closet I always swap out, out of season gets tucked to the side and back, with out of season hanging clothing, and in season shoes get put up front, but pushed back behind clothing rod. That hanging thing now has what I wear the most in it, up front. Confusing to describe. All neat now...always looking to improve my "system" in this, my least "functionally easy" of closets. It's about the best it's been yet, but I always look to lighten the load in there.

@nwbabs, the shirt that got stuck on, lol.  I laughed because that happened to me about a month ago with a LOFT short puffed sleeved blouse I decluttered. Now, I know I've got 15 lbs I want to lose, but really, not in my relatively small arms! And though I've been doing weight training exercises (for osteoperosis) these past 2 years, I don't see where I've bulked up much! But, that blouse got stuck on my arms and trying to take it off was a comedy show! I got a little frightened it was stuck for good and I'd have to call my fire dept! 😂 Did get it off, and off it went to donations!! Lol.

Ah....this thread is so relatable...I guess we're not all that different. Smiley Happy Happy wknd, peeps.
